What you’ll be doing?

 

The Financial Accountant role at Yorkshire Housing prepares and files the statutory accounts along with developing and maintaining sufficient financial roles to expertly manage risk.  You’ll also be the go-to accountant to resolve technical queries from the business.

 

You’ll be a pragmatic advisor to the business using when it comes to accounting and also be  a key liaison with internal and external auditors.  Relationship management here will be crucial with clear communication to senior management and offering accounting support to business areas to determine requirements around new initiatives such as new product offerings.

 

You’ll lead the filing of VAT returns but be focused on process improvement also assisting with the filing of year end tax returns.  When it comes to systems, you’ll help to develop these along with the relevant procedures and policies to ensure effective financial management or as a result of accounting standards changing. 

 

The stuff that sets you apart?

 

 

  • A seasoned accountant and qualified as part of a professional accounting body e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA
  • You’ll have experience and technical working knowledge relevant to statutory financial statements preparation with the ability to keep track of legislation changes.
  • Systems-wise you’ll have used Open-Accounts or similar and be at least intermediate with Excel.
  • You’ll be a really confident communicator with the ability to build relationships.  Also, able to work independently and as part of a team with the ability to manage priorities and deadlines
  • Ideally, we’d love you to have some experience of working in the regulated social housing sector and regulatory reporting experience.
