Job Details

Connect Housing are looking for a Domestic Abuse Family Support Worker to join us, to support and assess the needs, risks and strengths, of Women and Children who have fled domestic abuse, whilst in the Refuge environment.

Working consistently and assertively, using a range of multi-agencies approach in order to provide coordinated support and achieve the best possible outcome, whilst considering the range of multiple complex support needs.

Reporting to the Domestic Abuse Team Leader, you’ll endeavour to support each family to reach their full potential, equipping our families with the skills to move on independently to rebuild their lives, often within a new community.

Whilst no formal qualifications are required, you must have demonstrable experience of working in a housing / family support environment, within child protection, safeguarding children and vulnerable adults. Working within guidelines, liaising and working with other agencies, identifying and managing situations involving a level of risk, you’ll have an excellent understanding of domestic abuse and the effects on children / woman and young people.

If you are highly motivated, have great time management skills, a can-do attitude and can be flexible in the way you work, then this may be the role for you.

At Connect, our values are at the heart of everything we do and our vision is to contribute towards a sustainable and just society. These aren’t just words to us and, at Connect, you get to really use your skills and talents to contribute towards healthy, happy lives. We love to make a difference and we balance our earnestness with a friendly and informal culture; over 90% of staff would recommend Connect as a great place to work, though we by no means rest on our laurels. Change is ever-present and our internal and external goals are always bold.

As an equal opportunity employer, we recruit based on experience, attitude and values. Connect are committed to ensuring our workforce reflects the communities we serve therefore we encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.

Benefits include:

Preference will be given to applicants who are able to work flexibility to include some evenings / weekends

Closing Date: 13th October 2021

Please note, due to the sensitive needs of our service users at the refuge the post holders must be female. This is an Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010. Please contact HR for more details if required.
