We are looking for an exceptional person to join our team to provide visionary leadership to the Housing Service. This is an exciting, new role and you will be committed and share our values of ‘making a difference in our districts’.

You must be able to demonstrate an ability to inspire and motivate staff to deliver first class services in our communities. You will support the Housing Service to deliver the highest standards and transform the way we work to ensure we provide Housing Services that exceed our tenants' expectations. You will also be a strategic and analytic thinker and be used to working in a pressurised and regulatory environment.

You will:

  • Inspire and motivate the Housing Service to deliver highest standards of service delivery, monitoring and managing this through performance metrics.

  • Oversee our Housing programme and system support team.

  • Shape the Housing Service so that it can effectively support the councils’ and the Housing Directorate’s vision, purpose, and strategic aims.

  • Ensure that the Housing Service provides a customer-focussed service that seeks to exceed expectations and contributes to the council being considered a ‘landlord of choice’.

  • Maximise the value of customer feedback and insight to deliver recognisable improvements to service delivery, ensuring that customer input into the process is recognised and championed.

  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement through effective partnerships with teams across the councils, and with key stakeholders, to further improve the customer experience.

  • Monitor and understand changes within the wider housing sector or in central government that could impact on service delivery in the Housing Directorate and adapt service delivery or policies as required.

  • Understand risks within the Housing Service, including health and safety risks, financial risks, reputational risks, regulatory risks, and business continuity risks, and act to minimize or mitigate against those risks.

*This role is normally based at our modern and conveniently located office accommodation, however, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been working from home and it has worked really well for us.

We are proud of the role we play in creating the environment, economy and communities for our districts. Babergh and Mid Suffolk have consistently been voted amongst the top places to live in the UK.

Working together across our Councils and with our partners in the public, private and voluntary sectors, we provide excellent services to our 190,000 residents across Babergh and Mid Suffolk – working hard to provide homes, support our communities, boost local economy, protect our environment and keep our districts clean, tidy and safe.

We are committed to agile and flexible working (subject to business need), with full time, part time or job share opportunities considered. Supporting equality and diversity, Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils provide opportunity and ambition for all, enabling and empowering our people to deliver the best possible results for our residents.
