Are you looking for a new challenge ……

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

At Brent, we have an established specialist single homelessness service to assist single individuals facing homelessness. The team is now looking to expand and grow further having recently secured Government funding to assist low needs ex-offenders into suitable accommodation.

The post will require you to lead and manage a team to house ex-offenders who are homeless upon release from prison.

You will lead and manage a team of specialist housing officers who will be working with homeless ex-offenders to secure private rented accommodation. This role will involve leading and managing your team to deliver successful outcomes. Excellent reporting skills as well as the ability to guide and lead your team is a must.

You will be working closely with prison services, probations teams, private sector landlords, statutory and voluntary agencies.

This is a fast paced and dynamic service. We recognise housing solutions are not the same for everyone.  Problem solving and working holistically with this client group is a requirement in this exciting role.

The Person

You should have a comprehensive understanding of homelessness legislation, and an ability to lead and manage a project where the core aim is to deliver successful housing outcome for a vulnerable client group.

A people focused person, you will be passionate about good customer service and take pride in delivering an excellent service. You need to be able to work proactively, be highly motivated, ambitious and ready for a new challenge.

We are seeking a proactive, outcome focused person with the ability to communicate with residents and partners, develop effective partnerships, embrace change and develop professionally.
