Housing Management Worker

Tow Law, County Durham
Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hpw)
Salary from £18,576 to £18,730 pa (pro rata), plus, brilliant benefits!

We help our customers by focussing on tenancy support. You’ll support by helping them to manage their tenancy and rent accounts. You’ll also support our customers with their housing benefit claims and making sure that these are received on their rent account. You’ll turn around vacant bed spaces so that new customers who need our help can move in quickly. You’ll also make sure our service achieves maximum occupancy, and that we are health and safety compliant!

About you
You’re passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. You’ll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds. You will have experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality, support plans, alongside working collaboratively.

As Housing Management Worker you’ll support letting and re-letting rooms or units, collecting rents, and taking formal tenancy action when needed. You’re great at managing your own time and have strong written and verbal communication skills.

If you’re not the biggest fan of technology, that’s not a problem to us. You do need to know that we are quite a high-tech company and most of our application process and mandatory learning are online. However, we’re glad to support you, if you need help.   

To make sure our customers are well supported, it’s important that you have worked in a supported environment before. Don’t worry, we won’t drop you in the deep end, we’ll help to you understand how things work at Home Group!

As this is a community-based role, you’ll need to travel around. You could do this role using public transport, or if you drive and have access to a car that would also be amazing! (we pay your expenses to cover this use!)

We support our brilliant customers by helping and maintaining their home as well as assessing their health and wellbeing needs, providing information and sign posting to relevant agencies, and engaging in social contacts and activities. Our customers live in sheltered housing which is specifically designed for people over the age of 60+ providing secure, convenient and comfortable accommodation without any unnecessary rules or demands.

You’ll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements. To us were not just a team we’re a ‘work family’. Our managers are Karen and Rachel, who have between them 17 years’ experience with Home Group. There is a total of 24 of us in the team and we don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too!

Although you will be working remotely at the scheme you will work closely with Debbie, Emma, Brian, Caroline, John, Sarah, Sharon & Mik who are all based at one of the 9 schemes. We all love nothing better than grabbing a cuppa and having a chat albeit this being virtually at the mo!  

Working hours
You’ll be working between the hours of 9:00am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday. As we’re asking you to be flexible for us, we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!

When you join, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one.
