Property Manager (Housing Management Coordinator)

Newcastle upon Tyne

Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hours per week)

Starting salary £19,300 to £20,250 per annum.  Rising to £24,300 in post.  Plus, brilliant benefits!

Empowering customers to live rewarding and happy lives. That’s when it hits home.

Our customers are at the heart of what we do and it's vital that they are engaged at every opportunity to ensure their home environment is of a high standard which reflects their needs and choices.

We have two fabulous opportunities to join our fantastic Housing Partnership Team at an exciting time when we are growing! These brilliant roles of Property Manager (known internally by us as Housing Management Coordinator) will use your property management background and expertise to manage several properties; one role will focus on the Tyne and Wear area and one in the wider region, for customers in our supported accommodation.

You’ll be our Housing and Property Gurus! The role is varied and often fast paced with no two days ever the same and the hours do fly by.  Support for our customers is always provided by another organisation so you will work in partnership with them to deliver a fantastic housing management service to our customers. You will be the first point of contact for our managing agents and the face of Home group.

We have two roles available;
The first focuses on monitoring our managing agents and the properties that they look after for us. We want you to build great relationships with our managing agents, so you will spend time travelling around the region to visit our properties and provide advice and support to our agents when they need it. We also want to measure their performance and compliance, so you will be gathering and monitoring information from our agents to help us make sure they are delivering a great housing management service to our customers.

Our second post is more hands on role if you fancy that instead. A typical day could include property inspections, but it could also be about meeting customers and support providers to discuss improving décor or replacing furniture. Another day you could find yourself working alongside our maintenance surveyors assisting with planned works or looking at Occupational Therapy recommended adaptations in our properties.  You may also manage customers’ rent accounts and deal with any tenancy issues. Our homes must reflect our customers their needs and be of an excellent standard. This means we involve them and our partners every step of the way. Our speciality is providing exceptional housing management in partnership with other organisations to ensure that our customers live happily in safe and high-quality housing.

About our team
You’ll be part of our amazing Housing Partnership Team. We are all very experienced and will always give you plenty of support and encouragement.

Chris is our leader – a keen cyclist and tea enthusiast who has worked at Home Group for over 28 years! Alex is Senior Client Services Manager. He looks after our ‘traditional’ managing agents and has a nosy cat who likes to take part in our team meetings. Ann is our Client Services Manager who covers our ‘Blend’ managing agents. She loves her motorbikes and her two mischievous dogs.

Keith, Anna and Ryan are our other Property Managers. Keith is our voice of experience, has an incredibly sweet tooth and an endless list of dad jokes. Anna is a new member of our blend team who loves a property transformation as much as she likes arranging our social calendar. Ryan is our latest recruit to the team, so will be happy to tell you what a welcoming and supportive bunch we all are.

Working hours
You’ll be working Monday – Friday and normal working hours are between 9am – 5pm but we operate a flexible working policy.  We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers and in return you'll have a great work life balance, so you can spend time doing the things that matter to you!

About you
Sometimes we must instruct and guide our partners, so you need to be great at managing relationships, positive, assertive and confident in your decision making. It would be amazing if you have worked in a property or housing management type role before.

However, if you haven’t, then we will be glad to support someone with transferrable skills and with the right ‘can do’ positive attitude and enthusiasm. Don’t worry, we won’t drop you in the deep end, we’ll help to you understand how things work at Home Group! You will be equipped with your own phone and surface pro laptop, so we need you to have strong IT skills too.

You will be passionate about property and get a thrill out of knowing that your properties are the best they can be! You thrive on managing your own time, working on your own initiative, have strong written and verbal communication skills and you’re able to positively influence people from all backgrounds!

You’ll have a driving licence, car which is insured for business cover as you’ll travel regularly around your properties within Tyne & Wear. Don’t worry we will pay you expenses to cover this use!

When you join, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one.
