Supporting the business through technology and innovation. That’s when it hits home!

Hello! We are Home Group’s dedicated Information Services Test team. Our job is to make sure all of Home Group’s IS works as it should. We’ve got a broad remit, so we work across different projects on different platforms, technologies and teams. There’s plenty of variety in our work!

As an IS team we are concentrating on being more digitally focussed, by using the latest technologies, whilst ensuring that our customers are at the heart of everything we do. We’ve got an excellent team foundation to build upon as our technical portfolio develops and expands; that’s where you come in. We need an awesome IS Test Analyst like you to execute application specific validation and testing activities.

While part of the test team, you’ll often take on sole responsibility for all aspects of testing.  You’ll work with development teams, project managers, end users and other groups to ensure some or all criteria of testing are fulfilled. You’re an expert in the technical aspects of software, you’ll be gathering requirements, generating test scripts, test plans and integration with software components. You’ll have knowledge of and experience with tools such as CRM, CMS, ERP, JIRA and similar, with the ability to write clear, robust test cases. It would be great if you’ve had exposure to both Waterfall and Agile development and standards too. We’d prefer you to have experience of working in the SDLC / Service Management environment, helping to deliver and support IT services using ISTQB, ITIL, PRINCE2, MSP, Agile, SCRUM and / or Kanban best practice.

About our team
You’ll be joining our fabulous dynamic, energised and focussed team (if we do say so ourselves) who are passionate about validating any new or changed service matches its design specification, and meets the business requirements.

There are 7 of us in the team at the moment, and we don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too! We’ve got a great team foundation to build upon, but we still need more awesomeness, which is where you come in…

You’ll be reporting into Tony, our IS Test Manager who makes sure we are an effective and enjoyable team to work in, while adding real value to the work we do in IS Services.  We’re pretty sure he’s got this and with you by his side…we’ll think you’ll do great things!

Working here
Here at Home Group we believe flexibility works both ways. Our focus is on getting the job done, not your working hours!  We have recently returned to the office and are now working in a hybrid way, with flexibility of working at home and in the office too, allowing us to work collaboratively and share best practice.

A bit about you
We’re looking for someone who has experience in functional testing either as a dedicated tester or as part of a previous role. The key thing is that you’re a lover of technology with a real eye for detail and an analytic, enquiring mind.

Technically, it would be great if you had the right certificates, such as ISTQB / ISEB qualifications, however it’s your great transferrable skills and the desire to work towards getting certified that matter most! Our testers have a great mix of understanding and applying best practices for functional and/or system testing, together with the technical ability to create and apply the right test automation solutions for each project of work.  A flavour of some of the things you’ll be testing include our websites (including back-end DB’s, CRM and CMS) and Oracle eBS for back office support, so some experience of testing ERP systems would be fab, as you'll get involved in testing this too.

It’s also important that you aren’t a shy and retiring type, as we need you to challenge our stakeholders and voice your opinions where it matters. It’s also critical that you finish what you started, as here at Home Group you’ll own the end to end test cycle from Test Planning and Design through to Test Closure. We’re looking for team players who are prepared to help others and who are open to new ideas; you’re not only willing to listen, contribute, challenge, exercise autonomy and innovate when required, but you know when the time is right to ‘get your head down’.
