A bit about the role...


The Development Directorate's aim is to increase housing supply in the areas where it is needed most by unlocking public and private sector land.  This role will be crucial in supporting colleagues on the technical elements of the land development cycle.


This role requires significant experience in residential development with deep experience of the technical inputs to the development of sites and management of external consultants. The post holder will work as part of a professional multi-disciplinary team that considers sites from due diligence through de-risking to development, so that they can be taken forwards and subsequently disposed of with a thorough understanding of the technical challenges and risks. 


The role demands the ability to utilise strong working relationships with internal and external colleagues leading to the successful delivery of projects being whilst maintaining good value for money for the public purse. The post holder must provide objective advice regarding technical risks and proactively seek efficient and effective means of mitigating these. 


The role will support the design and delivery of some exciting and ambitious projects across most of England and this is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team offering the residential development support to project management colleagues.


A bit about you…


Whilst our day job is to deliver first class customer service to our stakeholders you will be used to "spinning several plates" at once and will always be looking for ways to improve and innovate. 


You'll be comfortable supporting the Head of Development Services with complex technical issues. You must be able to demonstrate the following – 


1. Appropriate professional qualifications/membership in a relevant property, design, built environment, construction, engineering, surveying or other technical discipline or demonstration of relevant experience.


2. Familiarity with the planning process, NHBC Standards and all building regulations.


3. A strong understanding of the contents, purposes and the reviewing of: Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Strategies, Ecological, Arboricultural, Archaeological, Acoustic, Transport and other technical reports prepared by consultants.


4. Extensive experience of reviewing health and safety risks and Designers Risk Assessments when acting as the Client on projects, in accordance with CDM regulations and Homes England H&S guidance documentation


5. Experience of assessing key strategic and operational risks and putting credible plans in place to mitigate those risks  


6. Display a proactive ability in taking a comprehensive technical overview of sites, including making linkages between reports and assessments highlighting and any implications when planning and taking forward a development.
