Digital User Researcher

Newcastle upon Tyne

Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hpw)

Salary circa £40,000 pa negotiable based on skills and experience, plus brilliant benefits

Giving our customers an amazing experience online. That’s when it hits home!

As an organisation we are setting out to be more digitally focussed, using the latest technologies, whilst ensuring that our customers are at the heart of everything we do. Our strategy is set, our direction is clear. What comes next is to apply our skills and experience through brilliant team work to innovate, design, and implement products that deliver real customer and business value.

We’ve got an excellent team foundation to build upon as our technical portfolio develops and expands; that’s where you come in. What makes us No.6 in the UK’s Best Super Large Great Places to Work, 7th Best Place in the UK for Great Places for Women to Work, 18th in the Stonewall Top 100 and Investors in People Platinum Standard? It’s our brilliant people and culture!

We have a fantastic opportunity for you to join us as our Digital User Researcher. You’ll be working in agile teams with our Digital Team, gathering qualitative, quantitative and behavioural research from our varied customer base, where your findings will feed into our brilliant UX designers, informing the creation of user-centred designs and improving the current user experience and journeys. Your priorities will be set by the Product Owners, using research to define the priority of the product roadmap, and developing the user research strategy against this.

About our team
You’ll work alongside our fabulous team who are passionate about delivering innovative Digital solutions using the latest technologies. Your manager will be Jo who is Head of Digital, she has a love of the gym, food and fine wine and is constantly trying to find the balance between the two. You will also work closely with the Digital Development team currently made up of developers, DevOps, UX and a Scrum Master.

A bit about you
As an experienced and passionate user researcher you will be using a variety of user research methods to reveal actionable insights.  You will have experience of working in agile environments and with colleagues of various discipline with an understanding of how digital changes customer behaviours. An understanding of web analytics would also be an advantage.

Your brilliant and confident communication are essential in building valuable working relationships with colleagues and especially our customers. You ensure excellent visual and verbal presentations are supported by a great understanding of user-centred design.

Continually improving the way we work is essential in the Digital Team. You will be a key player in this, identifying ways to improve our effectiveness and efficiency by embracing and keeping up to date with digital trends in an ever-changing digital environment.

Working hours
Here at Home Group we believe flexibility works both ways. Our focus is on getting the job done, not your working hours! It’s important to us that you’re in the office so we can work collaboratively and share best practices amongst the team. However there will be times, when you might work from home to concentrate on a particular piece of work. Throughout it’s the team’s unwritten rule that you attend the important appointments in life, be it your child’s school play, your partner’s graduation, or to get your new fridge delivered. You can elect to fit these around your working day or use your flexi to take the time off.
