Property Investment Committee - Chair and Co-opted committee members

Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association (ISHA) is a community and neighbourhood-based housing organisation, managing and developing quality affordable housing for people in North and East London since 1933.

We have 2,500 homes and employ 73 people. We lead the North River Alliance (NRA) and work in close co-operation with other local housing associations, including Black and ethnic minority (BAME) housing associations, special needs housing associations and co-operatives.

Our G1 Governance rating and V2 Financial Viability rating was re-confirmed by the Regulator of Social Housing in August 2021 following an in-depth assessment.

About the committee

We are seeking board committee members who have passion for our vision to co-create homes and communities where everyone can flourish. We want to be viewed as a brilliant housing association by our residents, stakeholders and staff.

Our new Property Investment Committee was established by the Board in September 2021, replacing our Development Committee. It has a wider remit including asset management, building safety, development and sustainability. The Committee will focus on investments in new and existing stock and provide expert opinions and recommendations to the Board.

About the roles

We are recruiting for a board member to Chair this committee as well as three co-opted committee members. Candidates will bring professional skills and experience particular to the needs of this committee including:

  • strategic asset management and sustainability, particularly with respect to decarbonisation
  • commercial – market sale and market rent, sustainable construction
  • strategic management of building safety
  • housing allocations, management and maintenance
  • procurement and contract management
  • performance monitoring systems and quality assurance systems.

Board and committee member roles are currently unpaid and voluntary, consistent with the overriding ethos of the Association’s values. The Board is reviewing remuneration in 2021-22. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
