Employing over 1,000 people, and with a turnover of £165 million, we are proud to be an anchor organisation in the City of Sunderland. As such, we do much more than just provide a home - we help people into work, support victims of domestic abuse and anti-social behaviour, enable young people to live independently, and provide a wellbeing service that supports our elderly tenants and residents.

In November 2020 we regained our G1 governance rating, and our plans to develop nearly 2,000 new homes by 2025 illustrates our significant growth ambitions. Last year we spent £66m on property maintenance and investment into our properties, and as a values driven housing association that provides more than 60,000 people with a place they can call home, our core purpose is to ensure that tenants are at the heart of Gentoo. This commitment is underlined by our new five-year corporate strategy which is built around the “5Ps” of Place, People, Perform, Partner and Pride, reflecting our high levels of engagement with our colleagues and customers.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Housing, we are now looking for an ambitious Associate Director to provide inspirational and strategic leadership to our housing service. This is an opportunity to lead, motivate and develop a large team, ensuring a pro-active and positive approach to the opportunities and challenges ahead. As a member of Gentoo’s Senior Leadership Team, this role is also responsible for contributing to a broad range of issues as well as the overall Group strategy.

As an experienced social housing leader, you will bring a strong people and tenant focus and drive a culture of continuous improvement to ensure that the customer experience is the best it can possibly be. You will lead on the effective delivery of front line, value for money services and ensure top quartile KPI performance.

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, innovative and experienced housing services leader with strong financial and performance management experience. Excellent stakeholder relationship skills are essential to ensure that we have great homes, strong communities and inspired people.
