Housing & Development Change Leader Required

Can you lead our housing change programme?

We are looking for an energetic and creative person who can drive our housing change programme. Driving our ambitious housing growth plans and the professionalisation of our housing/asset management offer.

We are one of the leading not for profit providers of support for people with learning disabilities and mental health conditions. These uniquely challenging times are also opening up some fascinating opportunities for organisations willing to be brave and adventurous.

Our new long term plan sets out our ambition to deliver ‘networks of support, rooted in local communities, backed by the resources of a national organisation’. A vision that has community building at its heart.

We support some 2,000 people across England & Wales in a mixture of housing settings from individual shared ownership properties through shared housing to residential care homes. A proportion of our housing stock is directly owned/managed but the majority is sourced through managing agency agreements with registered providers and other landlords.

The right to a comfortable, safe and affordable place to call home is central to our long term plan. Our new housing strategy is a fundamental building block on which United Response will deliver and grow its support offer across the county. Our strategy sets out how a quality housing and development offer will be delivered via four key pillars, Housing Management, Asset Management, New Development, and Stock Rationalisation.

In this role you will drive:

  • Growth of our directly managed stock,
  • Development of new housing schemes,
  • Re-provision projects to modernise and enhance our existing housing stock.
  • Our existing programme of professionalisation of our housing & asset management.

We have some exciting development partnerships in place including the creation of a social impact investment fund, which has to date raised £15+m from local authority and philanthropic investment partners to develop supported housing.

We have made key appointments to strengthen our housing & asset management we are now looking for an experienced, senior leader from the housing sector. The appointment is part of the investment from charitable reserves to deliver the long term plan. We are looking for some very specific skills and experience around change management and housing development, which may not be the key long term requirements and so the role is offered initially through to March 2023 when the requirements will be re-evaluated. Your job title will be Housing & Development Director, however we are open to different ways in which this role can be carried out, including less than full time and flexible contract.
