Partnership and Business Development Manager

2 year fixed term contract

 A bit about the role...

You will be working in the ambitious High Growth & New Settlements Team, part of the wider Markets, Partners & Places Directorate, focused on identifying new business opportunities through working with partners on development sites which demonstrate a wider market failure. Unlocking these sites through Homes England’s interventions, using our skills and products, including funding programmes, to enable housing delivery. You will act as the ‘front door’ to Homes England for our existing and new partners. Your role will incorporate working with partners, including local authorities, housing providers, developers, government departments and consultancies, to harness these opportunities that enable land and investment to be unlocked for housing growth.

We have many complex and challenging development projects for you to be involved with.  Where such projects are of significant scale, you will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team with colleagues across Homes England within the Investment and Development Directorates to ensure projects are investible and deliverable to fulfil Homes England’s mission and objectives, and Government housing targets.

We are a team with a mix of skills and experience, working in an agile way to deploy our skills where needed to support each other. We are looking for a well-rounded, skilful, individual with development surveying experience, who is wanting to advance or diversify their career.

This role will be working collaboratively with one of our Senior Partnership & Business Development Managers, covering specific projects in the Hampshire, Oxfordshire, and Surrey areas.  As a flexible organisation we are keen to hear from candidates who may be prepared to work from our Bristol office for part of the week, as well as occasionally visit partners in their localities and our other offices across England for key meetings and events.

We firmly believe in identifying opportunities for career progression and personal development. This is a two-year fixed term appointment. This could be the opportunity you are looking for to gain more experience in advancing complex development projects delivering housing, with both public and private partners, and/or progress a career in the wider organisation.

A bit about you…

You will have experience of residential/commercial property development, with an understanding and experience of the tools needed to assess viability, project development and delivery. You will understand how to unlock the barriers to development.

Ideally you will be educated to degree level, have a development related qualification or be working towards one with relevant experience within the industry. You will demonstrate an awareness and understanding of Government policies and priorities on housing and the contribution of Homes England to delivering these. As such you will need to think strategically and be politically aware.

You will have a commercial and collaborative approach to developing effective relationships with both public and private sector partners and be able to demonstrate you can work with colleagues, as part of a team, in an inclusive way. You will be solution focussed, with a proactive approach to unblocking problems. Ideally, you will have first-hand experience of either preparing or commissioning feasibility studies and other development due diligence and will have experience in engaging in the preparation of business cases to secure investment or funding.

You will be comfortable working in an agile way, often ‘spinning several plates’ at once and will always be looking for ways to improve and innovate. You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun, and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade and see your effort come to fruition.
