Asbestos Surveyor

Location: Wiltshire

Salary: £35,875 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week

We are looking for qualified asbestos surveyors to join us across our operating regions to support the completion of asbestos surveyors across our stock.

What you’ll be doing

You’ve probably guessed that as an asbestos surveyor, you’ll carry out asbestos surveys & you’re right. You’ll join the asbestos manager and technical support officer in a newly formed team, working to resurvey our entire stock. You won’t be doing it alone, there will be other surveyors working in other regions and you’ll have a region you predominantly work in.

You’ll be in control of your diary, booking and planning in surveys using an electronic tablet to complete the surveys on site. You’ll use TEAMS on a day-to-day basis to support you and complete all associated paperwork.

The surveys you produce will help inform our maintenance teams when they complete their day-to-day repair works and you’ll also work closely with our wider asset management team including our asset surveyors.

You’ll be out and about daily so it’s essential you have a full, UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.

We will interview candidates throughout the advertising period.

About you

You’ll need to hold a P402 qualification and have demonstrable experience as an asbestos surveyor; you’ll hit the ground running when you start, so knowledge of TEAMS would be great but don’t worry, we can show the system if you haven’t used it before.

You’ll be happy and able to use all IT equipment with proficiency in Microsoft office suite; you’ll also be using internal systems so the ability to use bespoke systems and databases will come naturally to you.

Your diary is your own, you’ll be planning your days and ensuring surveys are completed on time so it’s essential you can manage a fluctuating and demanding workload with sometimes conflicting priorities. You’ll largely be out and about on site on your own, so you’ll be comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.

As you’ll be out and about interacting with our customers, you’ll understand the importance of customer service and be able to communicate with a variety of customers with varying needs.

What’s in it for me

We invest in our colleagues because we know if they have a better day at work, the service our customers receive will be better. The Aster Offer is our offer to our colleagues to ensure they have a great day at work and includes things like:

  • Flexible working – whilst some roles need to be carried out in a specific place at a specific time, where possible we encourage our colleagues to work to their own schedule at a location that suits them and their team
  • A focus on colleague wellbeing – workshops, an employee assistance programme offering counselling and support, virtual GP services, mental health training and a health cash plan for all
  • We invest in colleagues’ careers and development through our leader and colleague development frameworks
  • Defined Contribution Pension and attached life assurance
  • Volunteering hours available to all colleagues to enable them to give back
  • Savings at cinemas, gyms, holidays, days out, various shops and eateries and lots more
  • Enhanced leave
  • We celebrate colleagues who go above and beyond with a range of personalised thank you and monthly and annual awards.

About Aster Group

Now is a really exciting time to join us. We’re working towards our vision of everyone has a home. It’s a bold statement but one everyone across our business is passionate about.  Our purpose is to improve people’s lives. We provide safety and security through our reliable landlord services and we supply a wide range of housing options in response to the housing crisis. We believe that work isn’t somewhere you go, it’s something you do. No two days are the same here, and agile working is the norm rather than the exception.

We’re on an exciting transformation journey. Our business strategy is clear. Our vision is bold. And what sets us apart is The Aster Way. The Aster Way is not just a set of words. It’s a shared understanding of the way we work – creating a fair and inclusive culture. It’s a set of straightforward principles that underpin everything we do, every day. From how we lead and learn, to how we collaborate, communicate and innovate, this is how we’ll reach our vision - that everyone has a home.

At Aster, we have a customer first culture, with customers at the heart of everything we do, so we expect all our colleagues to be motivated and inspired to deliver a positive customer experience.

We’re a not-for-dividend business established in 1990 and have over £1.6 billion worth of assets. We own and maintain over 30,000 homes, provide services to approximately 90,000 customers and employ 1,300 people. The Aster Foundation is our way of giving something back. It’s the work we choose to do over and above our landlord and development activities.
