Job Details

Onward Homes is one of the largest registered providers of social housing in the North West, with 35,000 properties across the region.

Our in-house repairs team, Onward Repairs, aims to deliver a high-quality service that is convenient for our customers and keeps our homes safe and in excellent condition. Working across the Lancashire region, Onward Repairs provides all day-to-day repairs and void works, gas servicing and out of hours service to our customers.

We recognise our people are our greatest asset and offer a competitive salary and benefits.  These include 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays and a paid 3-day closure during the festive break.  With immediate access to our company pension scheme, we will match your contributions up to 10%.  And that’s not all, we offer access to a health care cash plan, along with access to discounts for household brands.

You will have access to paid learning opportunities to provide you with the skills for now and the future to equip you to deliver great service to enable you to achieve your full potential.

We are recruiting a Multi-Skilled Joiner to join our team and will be holding interviews for short-listed candidates on Tues 7th December, 2021.

Providing you with a company vehicle, and the provision of all necessary power tools to carry out your role, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing business.

Reporting to the Team Leader (Responsive Repairs / Voids and Adaptations) you will deliver repair activities within customer homes, empty properties and for other clients as required, in line to our standards and key performance indicators.

You will co-ordinate and undertake the most cost effective repair solution delivering value for money.  This will involve organising materials, providing detailed information, effectively communicating with customers, other stakeholders and colleagues to deliver a high quality service and all in line with health and safety requirements.

Providing excellent customer service whilst ensuring prompt work is delivered and liaise with clients, customers and colleagues regarding access, safe working practices, and assessment of repairs requirements and progress of repairs, ensuring all work is delivered to a high standard.

Whilst you will complete jobs on PDA’s (smartphone) and maintain other records as required including van stock, access details, materials used, job progression and follow on information, you will proactively organise your workload to ensure the delivery of an efficient and effective service at all times.

It is essential that you have a sound knowledge of building construction, components, building trades and applicable building regulations, and experience of working in a customer focussed service.  You should demonstrate proven ability to deliver a quality customer centred repairs service and experience of working in a target driven environment.

You should hold a minimum L2 NVQ or equivalent qualification in Joinery and relevant experience and an appropriate CSCS card, along with sound up to date knowledge of health and safety regulations.

The role may involve participation in an emergency 'out of hours' service as required on a rota basis which includes weekend work. This is in addition to the contractual hours and additional compensation is provided.

Candidates should be prepared to travel across the Lancashire region to cover our repair's service and a full UK manual Driving Licence is required, with Onward Repairs head office in Accrington.

Due to Covid-19, we have adapted our working arrangements under government guidelines and Safe Systems of Work.  Discussions around the current working arrangements and Safe Systems of Work specific to the role will take place during the interview process. If candidates have any concerns / questions in relation to Covid-19 and the role at any stage of the recruitment and selection process they can contact the HR team on HumanResourcesTeam@onward.co.uk and a member of the HR Team will be in touch.
