Job Details

Company Description

We are Local Space, a 2,700-home registered provider of social housing operating in East London & Essex. We are a G1 V1 rated RP (Registered Provider). We are Investors in People accredited and are the only housing association to hold the sector’s highest credit rating, AA-.

Originally formed by the London Borough of Newham as an innovative and independent vehicle for the acquisition and refurbishment of temporary accommodation; we work in 8 London boroughs and across a variety of districts in Essex. We continue to acquire and refurbish properties and added 300 homes to our stock last year. We also offer intermediate rented homes for local key workers.

We know that one of the best ways we can achieve greater quality of life for customers is to provide them with a home they can be proud of and deliver cutting-edge services that are a pleasure to use. Our homes are used primarily for homeless/working households and/or key worker properties with plans for future growth of our portfolios.

Position

We are recruiting a Housing Officer to join our Operations Team. The focus of this role will be re-letting our homes and ensuring our customers are involved in helping us improve.

We are looking for someone who listens and communicates with empathy, takes responsibility to understand the customer’s needs, and is great at sharing ideas and thinking about ways to improve our services.

You will be based at our head office in Stratford, London. We offer flexible working arrangements. This is a full-time position Mon-Fri (35 hours).

In return you will have a varied role, enhancing your skills and experience and learning new things. Having access to a car is preferable and onsite parking at our offices is available. We offer a good benefits package including a generous 27 days a year holiday entitlement and pension scheme, learning and development opportunities, membership of our gold healthcare cash plan, cycle scheme, and car and season ticket loans.

Requirements

Demonstrable experience of effective working partnerships with multi-agencies, customers, environmental, community groups and police within a performance-based environment. More details in the attached job description.

Company

About us

Local Space Housing owns 1821 homes in East London and Essex. We directly manage 371 homes and have a development pipeline over the next four years to procure and develop 800 homes. The remaining of our 1450 homes are managed day-to-day by companies working for the London Borough of Newham.

Local Space proves that small is no obstacle to achievement. Our AA rating from the Standard & Poor agency puts us in the top five housing associations in the country to achieve this rating.

Local Space was proudly shortlisted for the 2016 Housing Excellence Awards on the basis of its solid position in the housing sector and its ability to successfully punch well above its weight.

132 of our directly managed homes are for much needed accommodation for keyworkers that work in the public sector. The remainder provide the homeless with a safe and secure place to live. The people who live in them are chosen by the borough councils in Newham, Hackney, Waltham Forest, and the City of London.

We were reaccredited with Investors in People Silver in December 2015 reflecting the importance we place on our staff as essential in progressing our business and providing an excellent service to our residents.

Equalities and inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. This is demonstrated in undertaking equality impact assessments that results to tangible changes to the way we work and the services we deliver to ensure that we are fair in our approach.
