Watch our communities grow. See the difference you can make in our city.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Strategy and Partnerships Directorate for an Employment Support Projects Manager to join us.

We’re looking for someone who can lead on the mobilisation and delivery of an ambitious Green Employment and Skills Programme. The programme will create 125 roles while testing and developing a new model of cross sector employment support to support more inclusive growth.

You will play a key role in ensuring that the opportunities presented by the growth in green jobs in Greater Manchester are not beyond the reach of those who face additional challenges or barriers to employment. You will be responsible for delivering a high profile government programme ensuring positive outcomes are delivered on time.

With an excellent understanding of skills, employment and growth strategies and trends within Greater Manchester, in particular the opportunities presented in relation to “Green” and Carbon Zero jobs, and an understanding of the principles of inclusive growth, you will have an understanding of the barriers faced by both employers and employees in developing and sustaining jobs within the green economy, and how they can be overcome. You’ll have in-depth knowledge of existing employment and skills programmes such as those funded by ESF, DWP, and emerging new programmes and you must have experience of leading cross sector partnership programmes involving public, private and VCSE partners. You must have successfully delivered at least one significant EU or Government Funded programme involving challenging timescales and outcomes.

If we receive high levels of applications for the role, we may close the role early. Please apply as soon as possible to avoid any disappointment.

Please note the salary will be £40,000 + £2,000 completion payment (completing the full 6 months).

One Manchester strives for equality, diversity and inclusion in all that we do.  We positively encourage applications for employment from eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.

We also seek to promote a culture of flexible working where possible and practical and applications from candidates seeking flexible and/ or part time working patterns will be considered. Going forward we will be transitioning to a culture where agile working will be a feature of many of our roles.

We are a Disability confident employer and we will work to ensure reasonable adjustments are in place where possible throughout the recruitment journey and into employment.
