Housing Management Co-ordinator

Tyne and Wear, Gateshead

Full Time (37.5 hours per week), Permanent

Salary £19,300 to £20,250 pa rising to £24,300 through length of service, plus, brilliant benefits!

Empowering customers to live rewarding and happy lives. That’s when it hits home.

We have fabulous job opportunity for you to join our amazing team as a Housing Management Co-ordinator supporting our brilliant customers with medium to low tenancy support needs. Our customers live independently across 50 homes mainly in the Leam Lane area of Gateshead.

As our Housing Management Co-ordinator, you’ll be there for your customers who are moving forward in their journey of independence. You’ll support their needs by helping them to learn to manage their tenancy and rent accounts. You’ll also support your customers with their housing benefit claims and making sure that these are received onto their rent account. You’ll turn around vacant bed spaces so that new customers who need our help can move in quickly. You’ll also make sure our service achieves maximum occupancy, and that we are health and safety compliant!

Your attitude and drive are far more important than your experience. We can teach you everything you need to know, but we can’t teach you to care, to be determined to find solutions or to have an upbeat energised happy vibe about you. That comes from within but is exactly what we’re looking for. Tell us about yourself in your cover note and why you want our awesome job.

About you
You’re passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. You’ll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds. You will have some knowledge or experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality, rents, independence plans, alongside working collaboratively.

As our Housing Management Co-ordinator, your job will be supporting letting and re-letting rooms or units, collecting rents, and taking formal tenancy action when needed. You’re great at managing your own time and have strong written and verbal communication skills.

To make sure that we keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!) However, we’re glad to support you if you need help.

To make sure our customers are well supported, it’s important that you have worked in either a social housing or care setting environment before. Don’t worry, we won’t drop you in the deep end, we’ll help to you understand how things work at Home Group!

If you are successful, we need you to have an Enhanced Disclosure Check through the Disclosure and Barring Service which we’ll pay for.

Be yourself at Home
Home Group is committed to tackling prejudice and discrimination, not just for our customers, but for our colleagues too! We’re super proud of our internal Diversity Networks and allies (Multicultural, LGBTQIA+ and Disability) which support colleagues from different backgrounds to be their true selves. We recognise and celebrate our differences, together we make Home Group a great place to work!

About our team
We are a shiny new service offering Move-on support in purpose-built flats that are the cutting edge of design (ok we got most things from Home Bargains, but you get my drift).

The team is led by Karen, who has managed many different Home Group Services and her favourite thing is setting up new innovative projects like this one. Be warned Karen is a feeder, from bacon sandwiches to cakes and biscuits always being on hand in the office so you also need will power if you’re on a diet! Our colleague Clare is the teams Housing Manager, who having worked at our contact centre has all the knowledge and skills needed to support you once you join us.

Working hours
You’ll be working day shift, so you’ll work on a rota basis between the hours of 8 am and 6 pm, and take your turn working bank holidays. But guess what? No weekend working! Our 2 Waking Night Concierge will cover the late evenings and nights (we’re recruiting for them now, if you know of any night owls?)

We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!

Bank
Looking for a more flexible working pattern? You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank. You can work hours that fit around your current commitments or even pick up some additional shifts to your main role to earn some extra cash and get paid weekly!
