About us

In April 2021, GreenSquare and Accord Housing Association merged to create a bigger, better, organisation. GreenSquareAccord was created in order to deliver our purpose of Building Better Lives. Building Better Lives means that we exist to provide the affordable homes and care services that enable people to achieve their full potential, without having to worry about the quality, affordability and safety of their housing and care.

As a charitable housing provider, we provide over 25,000 homes to more than 54,000 people. We deliver over 3 million hours of care to individuals every year. We have a geographical reach from the north east, to the south west of England.  And we employ around 4,000 people.

We are committed to providing great homes and care, in a great neighbourhood, with great service.

About the role

GreenSquareAccord are seeking a high calibre, experienced Director of Corporate Affairs and Communications to embark on this journey with us. The role is advertised on a full-time permanent basis.

Working closely with the CEO, Executive Team, and other parts of the organisation, this role will lead us in achieving strong colleague and customer awareness, understanding and engagement throughout the post-merger integration programme and build a sense of collective endeavour. You will drive excellence in corporate affairs and communications, setting strategy and leading the team to deliver GreenSquareAccord’s ambitious plans.

As a member of the Leadership team you will provide strategic leadership that delivers customer-focused and commercially strong outcomes in line with our corporate strategy.

You will be accountable for the corporate affairs and communications both internal and external across the entire GreenSquareAccord group.

You will develop a proactive media strategy, engaging national, regional and local UK media channels including branding, marketing, PR and external relations, online, multimedia, events and publications, ensuring a unified and on target message across all media channels.

You will also be responsible for overseeing key performance indicators, engagement and outcome specifications for the organisation that support achievement of the corporate strategy and our relationships with external stakeholders.

Please note that if you are successful in this role, we will require a DBS check to be completed. Further details will be sent following offer.

About you

We’re looking for someone with the creativity and drive to support our ambitious plans. We understand that effective communication is fundamental to achieving a culture where colleagues, customers and other stakeholders know what we’re trying to achieve and feel they have a valued role in this shared vision. We are on this journey together and we’re looking for someone with demonstrable experience in bringing this to life.

Whether educated to degree level or educated through extensive relevant experience, what’s important is that you have the skills and know-how to deliver. Ideally you will have previous Housing Association experience and / or an understanding of regulated organisations to help you get off to a start in our context, but this isn’t essential. We would expect you to have suitable qualifications or equivalent experience in Communications, PR and/or Business Strategy. Being media-trained would also be an advantage.

You will have extensive senior-level experience in designing and implementing communications and PR strategies with impact and be adept at engaging colleagues and stakeholders in a way that wins hearts and minds. You will also have the ability to design, plan, write and implement a range of internal and external communications and have strong contemporaneous expertise in a range of communications channels, including social media, video and websites.

You must have charisma and be an excellent communicator, with experience of presenting content to a range of audiences with the ability to flex communication style. It is essential that you possess strong relationship building and stakeholder management experience. You will have a high level of tact and diplomacy along with the confidence and credibility to work with people at all levels.

It is also essential that you are flexible and accommodating as there will be regular travel between both offices in West Bromwich and Chippenham, in addition having the flexibility to work from home.

Benefits

In support and recognition of our colleagues who will help us deliver our employer strategy, we offer a fantastic benefits package. This includes; annual holiday entitlement (plus statutory bank holidays); a defined contribution pension scheme; trust based flexible working and a Confidential Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).
