Are you looking for an opportunity to join a financially strong and growing housing organisation, where you can shape your team and play a key part in setting the strategic direction of the organisation? Then perhaps Cornerstone, a growing and developing housing association in Exeter could be for you.

About Us

Cornerstone own and manage around 1,400 homes in Exeter and the surrounding districts with an annual turnover of £10.446 million (2020-2021), providing an affordable home for 3,000 people. We employ 55 staff including a significant direct labour team. At Cornerstone we understand that home is what makes everything else possible.

By offering safe, stable, affordable homes, Cornerstone opens the door to health and wellbeing, work and education, family, friends and communities. Our purpose motivates us to create places that people love to come home to, by focusing on great places, great services, a great business and great people.

We are financially strong and our plan is to use this strength to progress our purpose and vision. In November 2021 we became the first organisation to work with MORhomes on a 30- year sustainability bond, securing £19.3m at low rates. We have used this to refinance historic fixed-rate loans, with £10m immediately available to support our development ambitions and are working hard to build a development pipeline, appraising new opportunities. We have no cladding issues, 95% of our homes are already at EPC C, last year we invested £2m in improving our homes and we have recently invested in our IT infrastructure. In short, we have strong foundations for you to work with us on the next phase of our journey.

About you

We are looking for a director of finance who can promote Cornerstone’s vision and values whilst also providing strong leadership to the Finance Team and strategic leadership as a key member of the Executive Team to drive the organisation’s strategy.

You will need experience of delivering excellence in social housing financial services, but it is not essential to have worked at executive level.

You will demonstrate exceptional leadership experience and understanding and share our passion for and expertise in social housing. You will be a credible, innovative and aspirational individual, a do-er as well as a thinker, and have experience of implementing strategy as well as playing a part in creating it.

We have adopted a hybrid model of working where our people work flexibly in the most effective ways possible. At the heart of that is our continued commitment to a physical office presence close to our communities in central Exeter. Time spent in the office is about visible leadership and enabling us to engage with teams and create a culture focused on delivering high-quality customer services.

We are committed to delivering services that embrace diversity, equality, inclusion and fairness and welcome applications from people from a range of backgrounds and life experiences.
