Waking Nights Housing Concierge

Location: Yeovil, Somerset

Permanent Contract, Full Time (37.5 hpw)

Salary of £18,576 per annum, plus brilliant benefits!

Keeping services safe and secure for our customers. That’s when it hits home!

We have a fabulous opportunity for you to join our awesome team. We’re looking for a waking nights Housing Concierge to come and join us as our lone working night shift colleague. You’ll work 4 nights on and 4 nights off on a rota and will work between the hours of 10pm and 7.30am. You’ll be the important link connecting our day shift colleagues to what happens in the service during the night hours.

As our Housing Concierge you’ll play a really important role in supporting the smooth running of our service. You’ll make sure that our buildings and customers are safe and secure, and that we get on with our neighbours!

You’ll get involved in lots of different activities which will include regularly patrolling the premises, monitoring CCTV and visitors to and from the building and ensuring tenancy conditions and service rules are adhered to. You’ll also be our first point of contact for customers during the night and at times we’ll also need you to do some general cleaning duties too.

Our team look after our customers some of whom have some quite complex backgrounds and support needs. They can have histories of substance or alcohol dependence, offending histories or have a history of homelessness and nearly all have mental health support needs!

Our customers live within one of 5 buildings and have their own accommodation within these. Most of the accommodation buildings are within walking distance of each other but one is a little further away. Our customers stay with us for up to two years and our team help them to develop and maintain independent living skills, so that they can successfully move on to their own independent accommodation.

About our team
Although you’ll work nights, we do get together regularly in the daytime for training and team meetings. You’ll be part of our wider team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements. You will also join a wider team of concierges within the region and will have colleagues on shift in the area to call on for support. To us we’re not just a team we’re a ‘work family’.

You will report to Nick, who has worked for Home Group for over 14 years now and is a great source of support and guidance. Outside of work, Nick is lucky enough to live near the coast and loves kayaking when he gets the chance! There are 15 of us working across Supported and Housing Management Services and we don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too!

About you
You’ll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative. You’re passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives.

If you’re not the biggest fan of technology, that’s not a problem to us. You do need to know that we are quite a high-tech company and most of our application process and mandatory learning are online. However, we’re glad to support you, if you need help.

It would be amazing if you have worked in this type of environment before, however it’s your “can do” positive attitude and enthusiasm that are critical to make this role a success. We can nurture your talent, just let us know in your cover letter why you have a passion for working here!

You’re unique!
Home Group play a big part in tackling prejudice and discrimination, not just for our customers, but colleagues too! You can be yourself here, because we value everything that makes you unique. So, whatever your age, race, sexuality, disability, religion, or gender identity, we recognise and celebrate our differences. Together we make Home Group a great place to work!

When you join, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one.
