Enabling our customers to live safely. That’s when it hits home!
We have fabulous opportunity for you to join our awesome team. We support our brilliant customers who are single/homeless from the age of 16-25 who live in Derwentside Accommodation Service which is based in Consett Town Centre. We offer housing and tenancy related support to 13 young people, we have 12 self-contained flats and 1 assessment bed and support them to move on to independent living within the local community.
We help our customers to take control of their own lives offering support with tenancy related issues, access to training/education, move on and work in partnership with different agencies to support them to achieve their goals.
As our Housing Concierge you’ll play a really important role in supporting the smooth running of our service. You’ll make sure that our buildings and customers are safe and secure, and that we get on with our neighbours.
You’ll get involved in lots of different activities which will include monitoring CCTV, regularly patrolling the premises, monitoring visitors to and from the building and ensuring tenancy conditions and service rules are adhered to. You’ll also be our first point of contact for customers during the night and we’ll also need you to do some general cleaning duties and DIY too.
About our team
Although you’ll work nights, we do get together regularly in the daytime for training and team meetings. You’ll be part of our wider team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements. To us were not just a team we’re a ‘work family’. Our manager is Sharon and has worked for the organisation for 17 years and enjoys going to the gym and music festivals/gigs. There are 6 of us in the team and we don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too! Gill is the support co-ordinator and just loves her 4 cocker spaniels, Neal is an all-rounder and likes a laugh, Sue is always on the go, Suzanne bakes the best cakes, Shannon is into fashion and Lee enjoys keeping fit and kayaking.
We provide 24-hour support to our customers each day and every day. In this role you’ll work during the twilight hours doing waking nights work. You’ll work 4 on 4 off on a rota basis and take your turn working evenings, weekends and bank holidays. We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!
You’re passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. You’ll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative.
To make sure that we keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!)
It would be amazing if you have worked in this type of environment before, however it’s your “can do” positive attitude and enthusiasm that are critical to make this role a success. We can nurture your talent, just let us know in your cover letter why you have a passion for working here!
Home Group play a big part in tackling prejudice and discrimination, not just for our customers, but colleagues too! You can be yourself here, as we value everything that makes you unique. So, whatever your age, race, sexuality, disability, religion, or gender identity, we recognise and celebrate our differences. Together we make Home Group a great place to work!
When you join, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one.
