This role

We are recruiting for a Head of Heating and Water Safety in the Compliance & Technical Department who will have the responsibility and authority to ensure that MTVH meets its legal obligations in regards to domestic and communal heating services and water safety programmes, as well as running the reactive repairs service for heating. The postholder will be responsible for setting policy and procedure, setting and monitoring budgets, agreeing planned works and overseeing the teams managing MTVH programmes and contractors in our efforts to keep our residents safe. You will have the ability and support to guide the organisation and influence change.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience of building and maintaining relationships with contractors, stakeholders and customers to continually improve services

  • Proven experience in a senior management role

  • Experience managing full public sector procurement processes from an operational standpoint

  • Experience of gas installation, maintenance reactive repairs and servicing of domestic boilers and central heating, issuing gas safety certificates, general gas repairs at residential premises

  • Experience with a large public sector landlords compliance with their obligations under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998

  • Knowledge of communal and district heating systems: diagnostics, servicing, testing, commissioning and reactive repairs

  • Knowledge of water hygiene compliance obligations under Section 3(2) of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (HSWA) and L8:The control of legionella bacteria in water systems

  • Familiarity with the Heat Networks Metering and Billing Regulations
