We are recruiting for an Grounds Maintenance Operative who takes pride on the quality of their work to join a forward thinking and growing housing association. The successful candidate will be part of our regional Environmental Services Team who provide quality grounds maintenance and undertake repairs & maintenance programs around Yorkshire. This is a mobile role based out of Skipton.

What you’ll be doing?

You’ll be working as part of a team ensuring that all seasonal cuts, flower bed maintenance, control of weeds and renovation to grassed area’s and all other associated grounds maintenance duties. You’ll be undertaking the maintenance of all grounds maintenance equipment to include strimmers, mowers and tractors and provide daily check records as instructed by the Environmental Services Team Leaders. 

The successful candidate will carry out programmes of minor works to include gritting, fencing as prepared by both property and environmental services and other sections within the company. You’ll carry out environmental health and safety duties to include sharps removal and disposal in strict compliance with all health and safety criteria and best practise.

The stuff that sets you apart

You’ll have previous experience and skills in this area from a similar role and have knowledge of Health and Safety regulations including the use of safe machinery and PPE. 

Holding a valid, UK driving license is an essential requirement along with ability to produce reports, good communication skills and ability to work on your own initiative and unsupervised.

We need you to be passionate about offering a quality service! A recognised apprenticeship in horticultural, landscape maintenance or community based services would be desirable.

The finer print

This is a permanent, full time (37 hours per week) role. You will be predominantly based from the Skipton depot and you’ll be expected to travel around Yorkshire.
