The role and person

  • Fixed term contact – 12 months (with possibility to extend)
  • 35 hours

Accent Group are recruiting got a Multi-Trade Operative on a 12 month FTC basis. Your core role and focus is to carry out repairs within our tenanted properties to ensure we deliver a first class Customer service. We want our people and our customers to be proud of the homes we provide and you have a key part to play in this.

Please note a Full UK driving licence is required.

As a Multi–Trade Operative – a typical day might include:

  • Assisting in ensuring the effective delivery of the repairs & maintenance service, ensuring works orders are correctly and efficiently carried out
  • Carrying out a wide range of repairs and owning all recalls and associated resolutions
  • Calling the Customer in advance of the visit to get a better understanding of the job. Some Orders will require pre-inspecting and occasionally you will need to work in collaboration with our main contractor
  • Buying materials and reviewing van stock
  • Carrying out the Van safety check, ensuring the van is kept in good order and refuelling as required
  • Using a PDA to complete Orders
  • Improving the Customer Experience by providing additional value-add services to new and existing Customers
  • Making an effective and proactive contribution to the delivery and development of the service
  • Playing your part in the contract management framework by playing an active part in the weekly Team meeting
  • Supporting colleagues with ongoing repair issues and eliminating long-standing repair problems
  • Assisting with disrepair claims and enforcement notices and ensuring they are resolved to completion carefully and swiftly
  • Assisting with regional customer safety / fire safety / health & safety issues
  • Ensuring schemes are neat, tidy and well maintained – being proud of the quality of home and open space areas we provide
  • Understand customer issues and complaints and work with colleagues and customers to resolve them in a professional and timely fashion, ensuring all involved in the issue / complaint learn from them and are committed not to repeat
  • Bringing our values to life through your everyday actions and words
  • Owning policies and procedures which support the clarity of service delivery and standards application

The must haves:

  • NVQ or other recognised qualification in main trade or qualified through experience
  • Previous experience in plumbing, joinery and decorating are essential and preferably tiling and plastering, however, we will consider applicants with a mix across a variety of trades
  • Be able to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines, working with minimal supervision
  • Good interpersonal communications and time management skills
  • Be a team player
  • Customer focus - able to see service provided through the customers’ eyes
  • Honesty and integrity
  • Be confident to challenge
  • Numeracy and literacy skills essential. IT literacy as well as the ability to use company operational software
  • Experience of using Schedule of Rates codes is desirable
  • Full UK driving licence

Location

At Accent we’re a keen promoter of agile working and encourage the use of working from home as our new way forward. We’ll provide you with the equipment and software that you’ll need for the purpose of your role however it will be your responsibility to have an appropriate space to work from as well as a suitable broadband connection/provider.

The majority of our housing stock is in Peterborough, but the approximate regional cover is from Nottingham to Milton Keynes to South Cambridge and up to Wisbech.

Should you wish to work occasionally from any of our regional offices, you may do so on a hot desk basis which will need to be arranged via our online booking system.

A van and fuel card will be provided with the role.

Salary

The spot salary for this post is £29,000 per annum for applicants who fully meet the requirements of the post. Applicants, who do not meet all of the requirements of the post, will start 5% or 10% below the spot salary.
