Job Details

We’re looking for a highly adaptable, passionate and forward-thinking individual who’s ready to embrace their next challenge and join the Yorkshire Housing Board.

What we’re all about?

You might think of Yorkshire Housing as ‘just’ a housing provider, but we’re so much more than that. We own and manage nearly 20,000 homes (and counting) across Yorkshire and our mission is to make it possible for current and future tenants to live in a place they’re proud to call home. We’re all about the customer, and our service doesn’t stop once the keys are in the door.

Our vision involves reshaping the way we keep current and future customers safe and happy. We’ve got ambitious plans to disrupt the sector by overhauling the traditional customer service offer, building new homes that are truly future-proof and empowering our people through flexibility and freedom to do their best work.

We can’t shake the feeling that we’re at the start of an incredible journey, but we can’t do it alone. You’ll constructively challenge and support the Executive team to do the right thing, not the easy thing, and join the talented team that will help us build this exciting future. Are you interested yet?

What you’ll bring to our Board?

We’re looking for someone with a background in senior financial leadership, preferably with experience of the housing sector.

You’ll be a trusted voice and a team player. You’ll apply your refined skill set and extensive experience operating in a senior role to a variety of situations to ensure our leadership team are set up for success.

By providing clear, succinct and objective guidance and scrutiny, you’ll drive organisational performance and ensure that we stay compliant with all our legal and regulatory obligations.

Do you have the right experience and background, share our passion for making a positive difference in people’s lives and understand our vision and what it takes to get there? Well, we sound like a perfect match.

This role requires a time commitment of 2 days per month approx.

What’s in it for you ?

This is an opportunity to test yourself. Even for the most experienced housing leaders, the Yorkshire Housing vision will lead to unchartered territory and new environments, with challenging decisions to be made.

It’s also an opportunity to be part of something fantastic. Working alongside a talented team of fellow Board members, as well as a fresh and energetic senior leadership team, you’ll be responsible for making a tangible impact in people’s lives. We believe safe and secure housing is a fundamental right, and to tackle the UK housing crisis head-on, we need to combine our efforts and take bold, innovative steps forward.

You’ll also receive a remuneration of £8,000 pa for this role, plus expenses. Oh, and by the way, you can be based anywhere in the UK to apply for this position (and choose to attend meetings remotely or in person, we just ask that you attend at least one meeting and a strategy day each year in sunny Yorkshire).

So, now you’re really interested?

After clicking apply, take a look at the attached Candidate Pack for more details including a video from our Chief Executive! Then, please email recruitment@yorkshirehousing.co.uk with the following information:

  • A CV outlining your career history, key focus areas and achievements you’re proud of.

  • Please complete the equal opportunities monitoring form (this info is confidential and used for statistical monitoring purposes only), you can download this from the job advert page or our careers website.

Applications close at 9:00 on 31/01/2022, and final panel interviews will be held during weeks commencing 21st and 28th February.

Company

We are Yorkshire Housing by name and Yorkshire is our focus. We own and manage nearly 20,000 homes – and are developing thousands more.

Our vision is making it possible to have a place you're proud to call home.

You might think of Yorkshire Housing as ‘just’ a housing provider, but we’re so much more than that. We’re here to make a positive difference in people’s lives. So, as well as owning and managing nearly 20,000 homes (and counting) across Yorkshire, we also:

  • Offer money and tenancy coaching
  • Help older customers live at home independently
  • Adapt homes to match the needs of our customers
  • Carry out repairs and replace items before things go wrong
  • Provide antisocial behaviour support
  • Get involved with work in the community

OUR PRIORITIES

Our five priorities that will help us achieve our vision are:

Great Customer Experience

We’ll listen to customers and use what we know about them to shape our services. Oh, and we’ll provide extra support where it’s needed.

Homes and Places to be Proud of

We’ll create homes that people want to live in.

  • Quality
  • Safety
  • Affordability

We’ll also be kind to the planet and aim to be one of the first UK housing associations to stop using gas heating and hot water systems.

Growth

We’ll deliver 8,000 new homes by 2030. They will be energy efficient, sustainable and affordable to live in. We’ll also refresh our Help to Buy and social and affordable rented options.

We’ll achieve these priorities by focusing on being:

Employer of Choice

We’ll lead the way and make a name for ourselves as an employer. We’ll give you the right support and tools to succeed, plus a package full of benefits.

Strong, Resilient and Innovative Business

We’ll invest in all the right things, from our ICT to our people. This will make us stronger, helping us to make a difference to our customers and be a business that people want to work for and with.
