As a Financial Controller you will be responsible for supporting the Head of Finance in the provision of the financial accounting, business partnering and payments team aspects of the finance function.

If successful the main duties of your role will be:

  • To manage the Financial Accounting team in producing the Lewisham Homes annual financial statements, ensuring the accurate recording of accounting entries and the monthly reconciliations of control accounts and company balances.
  • Provide technical accounting expertise around the activities of the organisation, including expert knowledge of the applicable Financial Reporting Standards and relevant Accounting Direction.
  • Have a detailed knowledge of all of Lewisham homes’ financial systems and ensure that they are operated correctly and efficiently. Make sure that Lewisham Homes have strong financial controls at all times to protect the organisation from fraud.
  • Ensure that the necessary files, reconciliations and other required documentation for the year end audit are completed and reviewed. Liaise with the auditors to ensure a successful audit with no management points or misstatements.
  • Ensure that adequate internal financial controls are in place and provide assurance that these controls are in place to ensure that Lewisham Homes is not exposed to any financial risk
  • Ensure that financial regulations are kept up to date and confirm that they are followed throughout the business
  • Support the provision of information to the Organisation’s external and internal auditors as required.
  • Continually review the reporting and analysis framework and make recommendations for improvements.
  • To manage the Accounts Payable Manager in the provision of the accounts payable function, ensuring that regular payment runs take place, ensure all controls are in place, compliance with the purchase ordering procedure and that all data is complete and accurate.
  • Ensure that an aged creditor report is run on a monthly basis and provide a commentary on any material credit balances and debit positions.
  • Ensure that any urgent payments are approved in accordance with the scheme of delegation.
  • To manage the rent and service charge manager in the setting and managing of service charges for Lewisham Home tenants and leaseholders, including the statutory consultation.
  • Manage a team that strive to provide an excellent service to both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that clear objectives are discussed and agreed, using the organisations My Performance Conversation (MPC) process.
  • Hold regular 1-1 meetings, performance review and appraisals are held and employees are developed appropriately.
