Are you currently working as an assistant or trainee property manager or similar housing role and looking for your next step?  Can you bring your experience to a challenging and rewarding role? If so, a career with a leading London Housing Association could be right for you. At Notting Hill Genesis our Property Managers are called Property Management Officers (PMOs).  Our PMOs are at the heart of providing a one point of contact service to our Leasehold residents.

There is no denying that the PMO role is a busy one. As a PMO you will be the main point of contact for your patch of homeowners across our portfolio of exciting developments. These range from Victorian street properties to modern purpose built multi-tenure developments with excellent on-site facilities and home to hundreds of residents. You will deal with your resident’s queries and provide excellent levels of customer service by maintaining regular contact with them.  At heart, we are a people business and providing the best levels of customer service is really important to us.

Role Responsibilities

You will also be responsible for a broad range of property management disciplines.  Some of your regular tasks will include property inspections, raising repairs, setting service charge budgets, producing accounts and having responsibility for income collection.  This will all be backed up by your excellent communication skills, which we help you build and hone. There is also a lot more and learning all aspects of the role is challenging.  You need to be organised, thorough and resilient but if you are, the role can be hugely rewarding.

Although you will be the main point of contact for your residents and have a lot of responsibility you won’t be on your own.  You will be part of a leasehold team overseen by a Leasehold Manager with the support of a Senior PMO.  You will also get close support from the wider Leasehold Service as well as specialist teams that assist in ensuring our residents are safe and comfortable in their homes.

In return for taking on this challenging role you will get amazing opportunities to learn and progress.  We support our PMOs through the IRPM courses and exams as well as providing in-house training.  Our PMOs acquire a range of skills that allow them to learn development and progress in their careers.  Many of our PMOs have moved up into senior positions within our service and others have branched out into other areas including asset management, compliance and development.

The Ideal Candidate

A lot of our PMOs come to us with no property management or housing experience but we also want people with experience.  This is where you come in.  For this higher level PMO role you should have some experience in housing, block or estate management. You might already be working as a property assistant or junior block, property or estate manager.  You might also be working in another housing role like tenancy management and your experience would also be welcome.  An understanding of leasehold legislation would be an advantage but not essential.

As well as bringing some property management or housing experience, it is essential that you should be an effective communicator and good with numbers.  You should be organised, patient, resilient and have the ability to learn quickly.

There’s always demand for jobs in this area, and this is an exciting career opportunity for the right person.

We have a number vacancies across our Hammersmith and King’s Cross office.
