Chair of the Board

We are looking for an inspiring and inclusive leader to take over from Professor Ian Cole as our next Chair. We want someone who can lead and get the best out of our diverse group of NEDs and talented Executive team. You must be strongly aligned with our values, a good ambassador, and, of course, be able to chair meetings really well!

You will be committed to good, effective governance. You will instinctively encourage challenge and debate and have the ability to build consensus. You will be able to work collaboratively with the Chief Executive, contribute to strategic and business development and be an excellent networker. Your proactive approach to inclusion will help to take SYHA’s ambitious work on diversity forward.

Who we are…

South Yorkshire Housing Association is a social housing provider - with a difference. We have just won the national award of Landlord of the Year and we were also recognised as the most innovative provider of social housing in the country.

But we are far, far more than just a landlord. One of the defining features of South Yorkshire Housing Association is breadth of work we deliver across health, supported housing, care and employment, we call part of our business LiveWell. We have an excellent standing locally and nationally for the quality of our innovation in these fields. We are exceptionally proud of the impact our LiveWell services on the health and wellbeing of our region. Other SYHA group services include a commercial estate agency and a new build joint venture company.

Remuneration will be £11,672 per annum; we expect the role to take around a day per week, but this is very flexible. We welcome candidates that may not have had extensive chairing experience, but feel they have a strong, transferable skillset.

All our board vacancies are advertised on our SYHA website and we will update these with new board opportunities in the coming months. Information on our Strategic Plan, performance and careers can also be found on our website.
