Job Details

As an Extra Care Officer, you will deliver the supported housing management service for Extra Care housing services; effectively managing referrals, offers, completing tenancy sign ups, processing terminations, void checks and undertaking new tenancy visits.

You will liaise with local authority housing and social services and other stakeholder statutory and voluntary organisations to ensure the timely allocation of properties and hold weekly customer surgeries to deal with any housing related queries. As Extra Care Officer, you will also carry out regular inspections at schemes including routine health and safety checks and undertake property MOT visits. You’ll ensure the prompt and efficient turnaround of tenancies to keep rent loss to a minimum and monitor the quality-of-service charge funded services.

About you

We’re looking for someone who has experience of working in a similar role with older or vulnerable customers and who has knowledge of current housing legislation including welfare benefits. You’ll have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be confident when it comes to providing information, advice, and guidance, dealing with problems and complaints promptly and effectively.

A professional housing or related qualification at Level 3 or above is desirable, as is experience of multi-agency working, including statutory and voluntary agencies.

Enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check is required in accordance with safeguarding policies.

The way we work

At Rooftop, work is an activity that we do, rather than a place that we go to. Agile working enables us to have our best day at work wherever we need to be.

We recognise the importance of agile working in attracting and maintaining an adaptive and high performing workforce. Agile working can help employees balance the changing demands of work and their personal life, while contributing to improved performance and productivity. Working agilely also assists in attracting and retaining people, improving health and wellbeing, and reducing absenteeism.

Agile working arrangements are jointly agreed with the line manager, to suit the role responsibilities and to have service delivery as a priority. The role has an office base and the postholder will be required to have some office presence. To support employees, the required IT equipment is provided.
