The Housing Strategy & Implementation Team manages the delivery of affordable housing. Dynamically assessing need, affordability, accessibility, quality, location, tenure and size of housing required. The team leads the sustainable development of the built environment and ways of increasing wider housing delivery including self and custom build.

We are looking for a driven, enthusiastic person with a desire for self-development as well as improving the wellbeing of our customers. Ideally with experience of working within affordable housing in Local Government or experience within a Registered Provider. CIH accredited Housing Degree or equivalent.

Central Bedfordshire with the newly adopted Local Plan and requirement to deliver for 39,350 new homes through the Local Plan period, provides the opportunity to join an exciting Local Authority, with the opportunity to provide good quality affordable homes throughout Central Bedfordshire, enhancing the quality of lives of the end user.

You will play a key role in helping to deliver the Council’s housing vision and influencing the future delivery of affordable housing across the authority area. You will lead on responding to planning applications, securing affordable housing to policy compliance through the planning system and offering guidance through pre-application advice. Working with Registered Providers, developers, external stakeholders and Central Bedfordshire Council colleagues, excellent customer service experience and communication skills are desired.

Ideally a corporate CIH member but not essential, you will be able to transition from big picture to detail with ease whilst identifying relevant opportunities and potential issues. You will lead collaborative work with Developers, Registered Providers and other local authority partners to identify land and other development opportunities.

You will need a good level of numeracy and literacy and you will need to be IT literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft products.
