About Us

In response to the Building Safety Bill, the London Borough of Tower Hamlet’s recently created Building Safety Lead role is central to ensuring that the council complies with legislation for council-owned residential buildings including those that are high-rise.

Working collaboratively with Tower Hamlets Homes, the Building Safety Lead will develop a comprehensive approach for the council’s building safety and compliance regime and have our residents’ safety at the forefront.

The Building Safety Lead will also be the main point of contact for the national Building Safety Regulator, reporting and responding to all statutory returns whilst adhering to the requirements of the upcoming Building Safety Act for buildings in occupation.  Additionally, the Building Safety Lead will provide technical building safety advice to the Council and ensure our residents’ voices are heard regarding building safety.

Tower Hamlets Council is well connected with its tube, bus, DLR and train links across the borough and will also be served by Crossrail. Salary will be supported by a range of benefits including membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, season ticket loan and flexible working.
