The vacancy

It has been a busy and exciting year at bpha having successfully developed and implemented cultural and organisational development initiatives, such as our new values and behaviours, equality, diversity & inclusion plans, and our new ways of working model.  We are now looking forward to the next phase of bpha’s people strategy priorities in readiness to deliver the Corporate Strategy 2025-30. We are also beginning to explore the possibilities of working in partnership with two neighbouring housing associations to provide better service for our customers, greater opportunities for our colleagues and enjoy the benefits of operating on a larger scale. 

We are seeking an outstanding People Development Manager to lead and inspire workforce forecasting and planning, talent acquisition and retention, career progression and general L&D.

This is a brand-new role within our newly formed People and Culture team.

Reporting to the People & Culture Manager your responsibilities will include:  

  • Producing strategic development plans for our top talent to drive engagement and improve both individual and organisational performance 

  • Securing a successful succession pipeline by identifying, developing and nurturing emerging talents 

  • Identifying leadership potential and develop capability across all levels 

  • Identifying and implementing talent acquisition pathways through initiatives such as graduate programmes, apprenticeships, and partnerships with higher education organisations.  

  • Working with key stakeholders identify and forecast workforce requirements to deliver against bpha plans and priorities. Monitor demand, make recommendations and identify opportunities and risks that align to the demand for workforce. 

  • Evolving our current learning and development provision for individuals and teams in line with our purpose, values, and strategy. Creating clear career development pathways as appropriate 

  • Line managing, developing and supporting an L&D Lead and People Development Assistant.  

We’d love to meet someone who has:  

  • Demonstrable experience of identifying and forecasting requirements.    

  • Strong experience of identifying, recruiting, engaging and nurturing talent  

  • Experience of building career development frameworks.  

  • Demonstrable experience of planning, implementing and reviewing development programmes at all levels 

  • A good understanding of ED&I and its inclusion within talent management, workforce planning and development initiatives 

  • Experience of line managing.
