Magna is an ambitious and forward thinking housing association serving customers in Dorset and Somerset.  It’s a place where talented and ambitious people enjoy rewarding and fulfilling careers in an inspirational environment.

Our vision of “Creating Great Homes Together” is fundamental to the work we do and we have ambitious plans to be “beyond the best” over the next ten years.

Magna prides itself on being large enough to influence but small enough to care. We are on an exciting journey – one that requires agility in how the business develops over the next decade, and different, innovative ways of working as we explore new territory.

Magna is led by an inspiring chief executive Selina White, who has ambitious plans for the organisation and the workforce. Through Selina’s compassionate and highly innovative leadership, Magna have seen an incredible amount of change in the past 24 months with the focus on culture, customer experience and the wider wellbeing of colleagues. Supported by a strong executive and leadership team, and directed through the Board, Selina has been working across the organisation, identifying new opportunities, and laying the foundations for the future.

This exciting opportunity has now arisen to be a member of the leadership team as our Head of Governance, Legal & Risk reporting to our Finance Director.

The Role:

The essence of the role is to be our internal expert on governance, risk, regulatory and legal compliance as well as our Company Secretary.  You’ll form strong stakeholder relationships with all our colleagues as well as our board, and colleagues within our regulatory and industry sectors.

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes, knowledge, and experience:

  • A thorough understanding and track record of delivering all things governance, legal and risk
  • Experience of performing the company secretary role
  • Strong communication skills including influencing and making the complex seem simple
  • An understanding of the Social Housing Sector and it’s regulatory and political landscape
  • An ICSA or legal professional qualification

The Package:

We are at the forefront of agile working practices. The role holder can be based anywhere in the UK but will need to be available to be at the Dorchester Head Office a few days per month.

A defined contribution pension scheme with the company matching contributions up to 8% of salary and up to 6 weeks holiday entitlement, based on service.

Whichever part of Magna you want to work for, we pride ourselves on providing a good working environment and benefits. We look after those who work for us as we know that without the commitment of our colleagues, we wouldn’t be able to provide the fantastic range of services to our customers.

We're a great place to work and are looking for creative, aspirational and talented people to work with us. We are looking for people who share our commitment to equality and diversity and are keen to receive applications from people with a wide range of backgrounds and abilities to add value and richness to our workforce.
