Hampshire, Farnborough (Buller Court)
Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hpw)

We have a fabulous job opportunity for you to join our awesome team as a mental health support worker. You’ll support our brilliant customers in our new mental health service in the Buller Court. Our 26 individuals’ customers are aged 18+ and live in their own flats within the complex.

This is the perfect job, if you’re looking for a new challenge or looking to gain work experience in a mental health setting. We use an approach called LIFE (Living Independently, Feeling Enabled) to support and empower our customers. Support plans vary depending on the needs of each individual customers. You can expect to see goals such as Managing Mental Health; Budgeting and Saving; Maintaining my Accommodation; Managing my Substance Misuse.

About you
It would be amazing if you’ve had a job in a mental health environment before, but that’s not a deal breaker. It’s your “can do” positive attitude and enthusiasm that really matter. You’re passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people with mental health challenges make positive and lasting changes to their lives. You’ll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds. We’d like you to have some experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, mental health, confidentiality, and support plans.

Working hours
We provide 24-hour support to our customers each day and every day. You’ll work on a rota basis and take your turn working days, evenings, sleep-in shifts, weekends, and bank holidays. We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you.

About our team
This is an exciting time for us as the service opened during lockdown and has now been up and running for 11 months. You’ll work alongside Support Coordinators, Support Workers, Mental Health Clinical Lead, Health Coach and of course our brilliant manager, Jay.

To us we are not just a team we’re a ‘work family’. Jay has worked for Home Group for a whopping nine years and will be a great support when you join. Jay joined us as a Support Worker and took full advantage of our learning and development opportunities, working her way up to Senior Client Services Manager! When not at work you will usually find Jay listening to heavy metal music and looking after her adopted cat Smudge!
