Title:  Payroll Manager

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary:  circa. £40k - £55k plus excellent benefits

Location: Hybrid with travel into our Bradford office

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of People Services, you will be a part of the People Services Management team, leading an in-house team of 6 to effectively and efficiently, process hourly and salaried payroll for circa 9,500 employees across the organisation.

You will be responsible for the monthly and EOY payroll process is accurate and all reconciliations/annual reporting are submitted on time.  You will also act as Subject Matter Expert in any integration activity within iTrent, providing guidance and expert input into decision making.

The role will also work with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance and effective governance, as well as developing strong relationship with the finance team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the entire payroll function
  • Processing a monthly in-house payroll for circa. 9,500 employees – fully start to finish with all statutory deductions
  • Acting as a point of escalation and resolution for complex queries or requests.
  • Providing expert and specialist advice around payroll process and implementation
  • Ensuring the key deliverables of direct reports are clear and understood, combining these deliverables with the overall People Plan
  • Monitoring team performance to ensure the delivery of accurate Payroll services including administration and advice as determined by the SLAs
  • Investigate payroll related issues and provide expert advice and enable solutions where required
  • Management and personal development of the Team

About you

Ideally you will already be CIPP qualified or working towards a CIPP qualification and have experience of supervising a payroll team in a customer focussed, target driven environment.

We would like you to have experience and knowledge of the following:

  • Detailed knowledge and thorough understanding of payroll processes and related systems.  
  • Working within strict deadlines and to specified performance measures
  • Ability to communicate clear targets for delivery and able to motivate the payroll team
  • Work collaboratively with other supporting functions such as HR Admin, Reward & Benefits
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office and iTrent
  • The ability to deliver clear, well-structured communications.
