This role

This is a fixed term contract for 10 months with a possibility of being extended.

The safety of our customers, and therefore building safety, is our number one priority. This role will work across our diverse geography & portfolio to ensure we take a coherent and co-ordinated approach to building safety at a time when expectations are rightly increasing.

This role will support the Safer Building Department by engaging with key internal and external stakeholders including 3rd party free holders and Managing Agents to support the organisation in ensuring that our customers are safe in their homes, we capture data and information to support the effective long term management of residential blocks.

As well as helping us to understanding our and others responsibility in terms of leases and agreements you will also assist with developing data and information management to support clear lines of responsibility with third party stakeholders and documenting these responsibilities in terms of requirements from the Building Safety Act. You will also assist with managing on Section 20 implications with third party freeholders and their agents and with GLA and Homes England requirements in relation to Safer Building activities.

We are looking to recruit a solicitor to manage their own caseload comprising a mixture of contentious construction and property litigation work. The successful candidate will be [2-5] years PQE with experience gained in housing, construction and property You will be a key contact for managing relationships with MTVH in house solicitors, external solicitors and the service charge team. So great project management and interpersonal skills is essential .

In addition, the role will be required to prepare regular progress reports from across the team for Property Senior Leadership Team, Executive Team and Board.

This is a key role in a new team and will help ensure the safety of our customers.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Admission as a Solicitor in England & Wales or a Fellow of The Institute of Legal Executives (FILEX)
  • Substantial post qualification experience (2-5 years)’ PQE contentious construction experience working within the property arena;
  • Strong academic background with 2:1 at degree level (or equivalent)
  • Admitted to practice as a Solicitor in England & Wales;
  • Detailed knowledge of housing and leasehold legislation, case law, litigation practice and procedure.
  • Knowledge of running own files and case load;
  • Ability to prioritise workload; Natural problem solver, ability to take ownership of situations.
  • Determination to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of Section 20 Legislation
  • Highly focussed attention to detail
  • Confident and collaborative worker
  • Proven prioritisation and negotiation skills
  • Strong commercial mindset
  • IT literate to include Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet applications;
