Do you have what it takes to seize opportunities and deliver results? Can you think differently, pursue creative ideas, and provide reliable support to both internal and external customers?
We are a national social justice charity with more than 50 years’ experience of changing lives, building stronger communities, and reducing crime. We help support, house, educate, advise, and speak out for disadvantaged young people and adults - and you could now help us make an even bigger impact going forward.
As Senior Support Worker you will be working for The Elms project which provides 10 units of supported accommodation to single homeless people.
What are we looking for you?
We are looking for a Senior Support Worker to join us. Formal qualifications are not needed but the role requires experience of providing support to vulnerable people with a variety of needs related to mental and physical health, alcohol and substance misuse. Experience of working closely with outside agencies and stakeholders as well as up to date benefits experience and knowledge of Safeguarding is required. Knowledge of the Mainstay system would be advantageous.
As well as supporting our service users the role has responsibilities relating to housing management. These include assisting service users with housing benefit claims, monitoring rent accounts and following rent arrears procedure as required; carrying out regular Fire Safety and Health and Safety Checks, reporting maintenance, void management and induction of new service users. As a Senior Support Worker you will also have some management responsibilities and will line manage the concierge workers, carrying out regular one to ones and performance reviews.
The post holder should be familiar with quality standards and how these relate to the provision of Housing related support. Having a good understanding of Property Pool Plus and other routes into independent accommodation is required in order to assist our service users with move-on.
