Maidstone – Great people, great place, great opportunity

Here at Maidstone Borough Council we are expanding our Housing Management service who oversee all our accommodation stock across the district including supporting the provision of temporary accommodation for homeless households.

We are seeking a dynamic and hands on Accommodation Officer who is passionate about the provision of excellent accommodation to our community.

The job will support our strategic aim to “break the cycle of homelessness” ensuring the accommodation we own and manage is to an excellent standard.

Over the next five years we are looking to expand our affordable accommodation, by an additional 1000 properties, so this post will be an integral part of the team developing that growth.

We are looking for an individual who is motivated with the ability to work in a changing environment with minimal supervision. Our accommodation service at times can be very pressurised, with competing priorities, so we are looking for a colleague who thrives on a challenge.

The role will require an excellent ability to communicate with both internal and external stakeholders, support homeless households into and out of accommodation, undertake robust voids and lettings processes and health & safety management and monitoring to ensure legislative compliance.

Some weekends, evenings and early mornings work may be required. Alongside this face-to-face work, and located from Trinity, our new Community Hub in central Maidstone as a Hybrid working arrangement will be required.

Maidstone Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all employee and volunteers to share this commitment.

The Council considers that the successful applicant will have access to young people and/or vulnerable adults and it is a requirement under The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 that you hold an enhanced disclosure and barring scheme check. Upon successful appointment, you will be required to provide evidence of an enhanced DBS check if you subscribe to the DBS Update Service or complete the process to obtain a DBS check.

This is a full time position permanent position. A driving licence with use of your own car is essential in order to undertake visits.

If you feel you meet the requirements of the post and are ready for a new and exciting challenge in a progressive ambitious Local Authority, then we’d like to hear from you.
