District Planning Manager

Working with the programme director, you will represent the interests of the council within the programme of a cross-authority, strategic and transformational development for the client. The area covers the geographical area of the site within both councils, taking account of existing and emerging local plans and other strategies for the area, national policy and statutory plan-making requirements.

The post holder will work with the team alongside team members from both councils, as well as strategic stakeholders identified by the authorities; and to engage effectively with the master developer and other developers to deliver an outstanding development based on the principles set out in the charter.

The post must ensure that these services are delivered within the council’s framework of quality standards, performance targets, budgetary control and legislative requirements and supporting the assistant director, group manager and team leader as part of the service team, in delivering the corporate vision, values and strategic priorities of the council.  The post holder will also work in collaboration with other services, and senior management to ensure that services are joined up appropriately and are aligned to the achievement of the council’s aims and objectives.
