DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Head of Governance and Risk
Hybrid location: working from home and our Head Office
Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
Salary circa: £75,000 depending on skills and experience plus brilliant benefits!

Ensuring our regulatory compliance! That’s when it hits home.

We have a brilliant opportunity for you to join us here at Home Group as our Head of Governance and Risk. You’ll ensure responsibility for our governance and regulatory compliance leading in the support of all Group Boards and Committees.

You will be the key colleague who drives the agenda items for presentation to our Boards and Committees and you will work closely with our Executive Team and Chairs of the relevant Boards and Committees to make sure the right information is being discussed at the right times.

Working collaboratively with your team of Business Partners, you’ll also lead our Risk Management function providing expertise, guidance and support to the Board, Executive Team, Senior Managers and Colleagues across the organisation.

A bit about you
As a natural leader, you will have significant experience in a senior governance role within a regulated environment for a national organisation. You’ll understand the challenges involved in driving clear governance frameworks that support strategy and drive compliance with regulators. As a challenger and driver across the organisation you’ll ensure effective delivery of Governance and Risk Management.

It would be great if you have experience in the Housing Sector but it’s your transferable skills that we value which you may have gained by working in other regulated environments. With experience of supporting organisational boards, it would be great if you also have any knowledge and experience of Scottish legislative environments, supporting our operational, leadership and board members in that region.

Reporting to our Chief Exec Mark, you're confident working with senior leaders, as well as effectively influencing and negotiating up to board level.  You'll quickly discover Mark is a direct talking and avid “Toon” supporter who loves motorbike racing. Mark, who originally hails from Scotland, isn't just passionate about his beloved NUFC, he’s also passionate about delivering our strategy with a robust base of clear governance frameworks that drive compliance.

Be yourself at Home
Home Group is committed to tackling prejudice and discrimination, not just for our customers, but for our colleagues too! We’re super proud of our Internal Diversity Networks (Multicultural, LGBTQIA+ and Disability) which support colleagues from different backgrounds to be their true selves.

We’re especially keen to encourage your application, if you are from a Minority Ethnic or Multicultural background (BAME), female, if you identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender (LGBTQ+) or if you are registered or consider yourself disabled. This is because these groups are currently underrepresented amongst our colleagues.

We recognise and celebrate our differences, together we make Home Group a great place to work!

Working flexibly
Work is a thing you do, not a place you go.  This role is hybrid based from home and our office in Newcastle 1-2 days per week.  Other travel is also sometimes required to meet customers, colleagues and stakeholders.

It’s the team’s unwritten rule that you attend the important appointments in life, be it your child’s school play, your partner’s graduation, or to get your new fridge delivered. You can elect to fit these around your working day taking advantage of our agile ways of working. Our focus is on getting the job done, not your working hours. We are happy to discuss other working options should you be looking for more flexibility.
