Hours: 34.5

Salary: £24,061 to £26,414 p.a. pro rata

Closing date: 20/07/2022

Job reference: RNR000815-2

Interview date: w/c 25/07/2022

At Swindon Borough Council, we want our town to be the best it can be. Our ambitious vision is supported by realistic transformation programmes, with the people of Swindon at their heart. Because that’s who we’re doing it for – the communities and businesses that make our town great. As part of the Council, you’ll support a friendly local authority making decisions with real impact. It’s all for better public services. Better processes. And a better quality of life, for everyone. Join us, and Swindon will be better with you.

You will be based at one of our supported housing schemes delivering housing related support, which includes housing management functions and managing the Council’s permanent Gypsy and Traveller site at Hay Lane.

Your knowledge of housing management, safeguarding, lone working, multi-agency engagement, evidenced based decisions and supporting care-leavers makes you our ideal candidate. So too is your commitment to supporting vulnerable people.

Your next role

This role consists of supporting residents who live within Swindon Borough Council owned/managed supported housing, assisting them to develop their knowledge, skills and ability to live independently.

You will provide housing related support to a small number of residents in our temporary supported schemes to ensure that they are 'Tenancy Ready' in order to successfully move on to their next tenancy. We aim to break the cycle of tenancy failure and your job will be to equip residents with the necessary skills to sustain a future tenancy - support ranges from basic benefit advice and assistance to challenging behaviours that may have led to previous tenancy breakdown.

You will also support the residents of Hay Lane Gypsy and Traveller (permanent) site. This will mean carrying out regular site inspections, undertaking project work to improve the site, managing/re-letting empty pitches and dealing with breaches of any site arrangements. It also includes managing the pitch rent arrears and working with the community to deliver a high level of resident involvement and satisfaction.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).

Your next package

Please see our Rewards and Benefits offer for more details.

As an employee, you will receive a diverse and exciting environment in which to work, encouraging creativity and innovation whilst recognising the need to support ongoing personal development and a flexible work life balance.

For Swindon to thrive in the future, we need to lay the foundations now. It’s why our regeneration and transformation programmes are already underway. So, you’ll be joining us at an exciting time on our journey. We’ll look to you to share your knowledge, influence decisions and drive real, positive change. With your contributions, we’ll achieve our vision of a prosperous, re-vitalised Swindon by 2030 together. And you’ll be proud to say it was made better with you.
