Title: Deputy Payroll Manager

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary:  circa. £30k - £40k plus excellent benefits

Location: Hybrid with travel into our Bradford office

About the Role

Reporting to the Admin & Payroll Manager, you will be a key member of the payroll team, leading a team of 5 payroll administrators to process the monthly and EOY payroll for circa 9,500 employees.

You will be responsible for assisting with the delivery of an accurate payroll service and deputising for the Admin & Payroll Manager on all payroll related enquiries. You will also hold responsibility for reconciliations and annual reporting and submissions.

In addition to providing support and user guidance to colleagues you will also produce payroll management information through business objects reporting.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Recruiting, managing, and developing the payroll team to ensure all payroll processes are delivered in line with KPIs, SLAs and compliance
  • Completion of pension administration and any associated tasks
  • Continuous improvement of processes and systems
  • Monitoring and reporting on performance against service standards within own area of work and with others towards the improvement of service delivery
  • Ensuring compliance with internal and external regulatory standards
  • Implementation of processes and systems relevant to the area
  • Be an active contributor of the Pensions Governance Committee
  • Managing the overpayment procedure and relationships 

About you

Ideally you will already be CIPP qualified or working towards a CIPP qualification and have a good working knowledge of iTrent. The ability to analyse complex data and team leader experience will also be a distinct advantage.

We would like you to have experience and knowledge of the following:

  • iTrent experience (Midland HR)
  • Substantial knowledge of PAYE legislation and HMRC requirements
  • Experience with in-house payroll and procedures
  • Knowledge and experience of payroll technical discipline and/or legal or regulatory framework
  • Experience of working to strict deadlines and to specified performance measures
  • Supporting / delivering projects/initiatives
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office and specialist software or systems
