Role – Digital Communications Manager

A bit about the role and person

  • Permanent, 35 hours per week
  • Location – flexible throughout England but must have the ability/willingness to travel across our regions for events and to attend face-to-face team meetings
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required on occasion

This exciting and varied role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to be transformational in our approach to all elements of our digital communication activities.

This role will lead all aspects of digital communications and plan, develop, design, and deliver engaging, creative digital content to bolster our brand and meet our corporate strategy objectives. In addition, the role will instruct the creative direction of the Group and oversee our in-house design function with line management responsibilities.

We are a national organisation and work across 68 diverse local authority areas. The role will help to build trusting relationships with all our stakeholders through the production and distribution of engaging corporate digital communications and campaigns.

This role requires an acute working knowledge of all aspects of digital communications and design, and the successful candidate will be adept at managing multiple projects at once. We are looking for a highly experienced person who will be able to hit the ground running from day one.

In this job, no two days will be the same. To be successful in this role, you will need to be equally as comfortable planning key communications work and setting the creative direction of the business as you will be rolling up your sleeves to get ‘stuck in’. The role will be varied, fast-paced, incredibly rewarding and yours to shape.

Whilst we have key responsibilities and these can be found in the job description, there are certain things we will need from you:

  • Passionate about meeting customer needs and improving services.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premier Pro and InDesign.
  • Exceptional analytical skills to transform data into business action to drive performance, i.e. Google Analytics/Tag Manager.
  • Knowledge of working with CMS systems, including Umbraco and WordPress.
  • Able to understand and code in HTML, CSS and Javascript.
  • Exceptional and demonstratable working knowledge of online campaign tools – MailChimp, Unbounce, etc.
  • Strong copywriting and editing skills.
  • Project management skills, including budget monitoring.
  • Strong organisational influencing skills with the ability to be a self-starter who challenges and spearheads change at all levels across the business and ‘brings people along’.
  • Strong experience in social media management.
  • Experience in managing agency staff and freelancers to deliver digital communications and design, and ensure contracted tasks and deliverables are met.
  • Access to own vehicle with a valid driving licence.

 

 

Location

We’re a keen promoter of agile working and encourage the use of working from home as long as we meet our customer’s needs.

We’ll provide you with the equipment and software that you’ll need for the purpose of your role however it will be your responsibility to have an appropriate space to work from as well as a suitable broadband connection/provider.

If you prefer an office environment, we have 5 regional offices to work from (on a hot desk basis which will need to be arranged via our online booking system) in Bradford, Stockton, Burnley, Camberley and Peterborough. 

The role will require occasional travel across all our sites for events and visits to our head office in Bradford for team meetings and project planning.

Salary

The spot salary for this post is £40,416 per annum for applicants who fully meet the requirements of the post. Applicants, who do not meet all of the requirements of the post, will start 5% or 10% below the spot salary.
