Senior Area Manager (Housing)

The housing crisis is one of the greatest challenges facing the capital – and the Mayor of London has ambitious plans to tackle it. The Greater London Authority (GLA) is working hard to make genuinely affordable homes a reality for more people. The scale of the challenge is huge, but so is our commitment. Together we can build a London for everyone.

We are looking for a organised, proactive and self-motivated person, with strong problem solving, influencing and negotiating skills, to join the Greater London Authority’s team working on affordable housing delivery. The role involves close working with London boroughs and Housing Associations to align with Mayoral housing priorities and boost overall housing delivery.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a portfolio of investment partners, ensuring contracts are closely monitored and housing programmes are delivered on time and on budget. You will have demonstrated experience of negotiation, problem solving, and working with senior stakeholders and politicians. You will understand the strategies of local authority partners and the business plans of development partners, using such knowledge to define and deliver relevant projects in the current 2016-23 and 2021-26 Affordable Homes Programmes and other investment programmes. You will also be responsible for GLA land projects and other grant funding programmes.

As a senior manager, this role is a leadership role at the GLA. You will be accountable for the line management and development of 2-3 people, and contribute proactively to embedding an inclusive culture at the organisation.

This role will be based at City Hall, in the Royal Docks (Kamal Chunchie Way, London, E16 1ZE). GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our offices and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking part time work as this role is open to job share.

In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan and a career average pension scheme.
