We have an opportunity for a Rents Team Supervisor to join us to lead the Rent accounting function and support the wider Finance team in service delivery and core activity within the Rents Team.

This is a key role in which you will ensure the effective and accurate management of our tenants’ rent accounts, the allocation of income and benefits, and to lead and manage the annual rent uplift process.

 

The Role

 

· Overall accountability for leading the Rents Team and its associated processes, acting as principal point of contact for all rent activities and processes

· Work with finance teams to confirm and update chargeable rents and associated service charges for new lettings

· Responsible for entering rent and service charges for rent’s year end processes and to plan and meet year end deadlines, coordinate, create & arrange rent increase letters and maintain Rent year end timetable

· Lead on creating and closing all rents weekly / monthly / quarterly periods, and month end activities and reporting.

· To process all relevant import and export routines through the housing management system including payments and Housing Benefits within the required times

· Continuously review processes for efficiency & accuracy, and work to streamline and automate where appropriate

· Involvement in decision making, implementing and testing of software systems or changes

· Undertake 121s and appraisals with Rents assistants

 

About You:

 

· Proven experience in a similar Rent Accounting role, preferably within the housing sector.

· Experience managing Rent ledgers, financial transactions reconciliations, and resolving queries.

· Proven experience working with a housing management and finance system

· Experience applying rent and service charges including making adjustments for annual rent reviews

· Experience receipting Housing Benefit payments and income

· High attention to detail and accuracy and ability to meet strict deadlines

· Good analytical and investigative skills

· Ability to identify and adapt to changes in processes

· Excellent Microsoft skills, including Outlook (using diaries and multiple inboxes), and Excel (intermediate +)

· Experience in leading, supporting, inspiring and motivating teams is desirable.
