Barking & Dagenham Homes Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Barking & Dagenham Council that will be a new provider of social and affordable housing in the Borough. We are London’s growth opportunity and have a lot to be proud; Barking and Dagenham boasts a history of enterprise, industry, and adventure. And now, we are the fastest growing borough in London – not just in terms of our population but also in terms of the amount of positive change taking place. With 50,000 new homes, 20,000 jobs and large-scale regeneration coming to the borough.

Chair of the Board and Non-Executive Board Members | The Chair will be remunerated at £3,000 per year, and the Board Members will be remunerated at £1,500 per year.

As we seek full registered provider status with the Regulator of Social Housing, we are refreshing our board and are looking to appoint a new Chair and two Non-Executive Directors to offer true independence to the way that we are governed.

There is much to do at BDHL, and we will look to the board to govern and safeguard the quality standards of our housing management functions, providing oversight and challenge to ensure the service we deliver to our residents is the best it can be. The landscape is changing, and with the introduction of both the Fire Safety and Building Safety Acts, the board will ensure the organisation more than meets its compliance with all legal and regulatory obligations.

Whilst you may have Non-Executive Board experience, what is more important to us is your commitment to providing the best possible housing services, and a real passion for Barking & Dagenham. We are particularly interested in people with the following skills:

  • Regulatory experience in a housing context Housing Management and the provision of first-class Customer Service in the housing sector Asset Management, Property Compliance and Housing Health and Safety

We want all our board members to embody and demonstrate our values and behaviours and be able to: deliver; respond; inspire; engage; and value.

Should you wish to discuss the opportunity further, please contact Frazer Thouard (07384 810 743), Tim Hills (0113 205 6085) or Kate Merson (0207 426 3376) from our retained partners at GatenbySanderson. To apply, please click Apply.

Closing date: Sunday 14th August
