CHP are an award winning, people focused organisation based in Chelmsford, Essex, and we are hiring for a Growth and Partnerships Director. This pivotal position will be our organisational lead for the growth and sale of new homes, and Myriad Homes/Myriad Housing (our non-charitable arm), delivering major development programmes and maximising existing commercial activity to continue with our ambition to build five hundred new homes each year. Reporting into the Chief Executive, you will be responsible for the Sales and Commercial lettings, Growth and New Homes Teams whilst managing an annual capital programme in excess of £30m. You will also be the Chair of our Investment Panel.

Role purpose:

  • Organisational lead for growth and sale of new homes and Myriad Homes/Myriad Housing (our non-charitable arm), delivering a major development programme and maximising existing commercial activity
  • Organisational lead for delivery of new partnership arrangements with for-profit RP’s, local authority stakeholders and Homes England, driving innovative methods of growth.
  • Member of the Executive Management Team, ensuring the delivery of CHP’s vision, values and business plan and providing clear direction and effective leadership.
  • Responsible for advising the Board and Leadership Team colleagues on all growth and partnership matters and responsible for:
  • An annual capital programme in excess of £30m.
  • An annual development programme (both new build and purchase) rising to 500 homes per annum.
  • Managing three direct reports with a wider team Directorate of thirty

Experience, knowledge and skills required:

  • Substantial experience as a strategic leader or in an executive/senior leadership role in a fast paced and changing environment, tenacious in pursuing opportunities and able to translate strategy into action.
  • Substantial experience of operating at senior level in developing multi-million pound housing developments to time and budget and within a regulatory framework.
  • Substantial experience in negotiating large and complex contracts and winning new business.
  • Extensive experience of advising Boards and/or Committees at a senior level.
  • Knowledge of social housing and the key funding sources for affordable housing.
  • Knowledge of the development and housing markets in the East of England region.
  • Substantial experience of identifying and delivering strategic projects.
  • Experience of senior strategic management, policy development and service improvement.
  • A strategic thinker with commercial and financial acumen.
  • A motivational leader, who coaches and inspires service excellence and accountability.
  • Highly numerate with excellent IT skills who can champion the optimisation of the use of IT and other new technology.
  • Extensive experience of performance management, reporting and data with the ability to take complex and multi-faceted data and situations and develop into tangible plans and actions.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent and/or substantial experience in senior or executive roles.
  • Relevant management qualification.
  • Chartered status in a building or construction related discipline and a recognised professional accreditation from suitable management and leadership body such as the ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) would be an advantage but not essential.
