Affordable Housing Officer

We are looking for an Affordable Housing Officer to assist the service manager and Affordable Housing Team Leader to drive the delivery of the full spectrum of affordable housing required in both districts, working with planning colleagues and external partners as required.

 

Affordable Housing Officer Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Affordable Housing Team Leader to work alongside planners to negotiate and deliver an appropriate mix of affordable housing on all sites. Assist with the Housing contribution to the development of Neighbourhood Plans. Use contact as a way of engaging and persuading, so as to retain influence over their pace/scale of development. Act as the lead officer for enabling rural housing development, acting as project officer for all sites and liaising with parish councils, Registered Providers, local communities and developers, as appropriate, to maximise the delivery of rural affordable housing. Develop an interface with the team’s customers and gather feedback on the housing product e.g. build quality, amenity etc, to use to enhance the housing/planning process. Track the delivery of housing against targets, both market and affordable, and to risk assess delivery against targets. Collate/analyse relevant data to assist the service in understanding the local housing markets, and housing required to meet the needs of the locality, both present and future. Act as the lead administrative officer for appropriate delivery groups, collating all relevant info and chasing actions in advance of meetings on behalf of the service manager or Affordable Housing Team Leader. Manage and update the team’s performance reporting and lead on its continuous improvement. Lead on the delivery of any of the council’s home ownership initiatives when they are in operation. Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required by the demands of the post (infrequent)

 

The duties may vary from time to time without changing the nature of the post or the level of responsibility and the post holder may also be required to carry out any other duties appropriate to the grading of the post.

 

Affordable Housing Officer Requirements:

Your essential skills, knowledge and experience

  • At least 1 years’ experience of affordable housing development. Knowledge of regeneration, affordable housing, and housing delivery, and how the planning processes, development and housing services relate to each other. Detailed, and up to date knowledge of specific housing development issues and experience of all aspects of housing delivery. Excellent communication skills. Excellent numeracy skills, including the use of Excel spreadsheets. Excellent time management skills.

  • Educated to A Level standard or equivalent
