Somerset West and Taunton Council own and manage 5,700 social rented homes. Being a Case Manager within our Housing rent recovery team offers an exciting opportunity to work within the Housing service.

We are looking for two experienced Rent Recovery Case Managers to deliver an empathetic, reliable, and customer focused rent account management service, working within a defined management “patch” and in accordance with SWT’s established policies and procedures.

 

You will be responsible for:

  • undertaking daily contact with tenants and their representatives concerning any aspect of rent collection,
  • Negotiate arrangements for the repayment of rent arrears
  • Conducting home visits, telephone enquiries and office interviews,
  • Administration of payment methods, including setting up Direct Debits
  • Represent the Authority in the County Court for possession proceedings for Rent Arrears
  • Provide advice on all aspects of Benefits and liaise with the relevant agencies
  • Work closely with our partners (internal and external), ensuring that necessary protocols are complied with.

You should have an up-to-date working knowledge of relevant housing legislation. Excellent interpersonal skills, empathy and sound judgement are essential in this role. You will need to be organised and self-motivated but also a good team player. We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate an adaptable and flexible approach, a positive attitude, and an ability to work on your own initiative. Please note that the successful candidate may be required to undergo a DBS process.

This role requires the post holder to hold a valid full Car driving licence (Category B) with no more than six points on it.
